Bradley Women

A big comeback today-from 14 down to win
After a close loss to a good Missouri team on Friday, the BU women bounced back with a win over Abilene Christian today at the Fort Myers Tipoff.
Final score- Bradley 80 Abilene Christian 74- https://bradleybraves.com/sports/wo...6/abilene-christian-university/boxscore/22644
Abilene Christian was picked #1 in the Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll-

I hope they got some beach time. The temperature in Fort Myers as I post this is 81°. Tomorrow's high will be 85°!

Bummer that Claire McDougall will miss the rest of the season with an injury. She has been playing really well for a much improved team. They indicate she should get a medical redshirt and be able to play 2 more years.

Here is the Bradley press release about Claire McDougall-

They do not give any specifics about the nature of the injury. There is not a video available of the injury, but a season-ending "lower body injury" nearly always means a serious knee injury, and that most commonly is a torn knee ligament (most likely the ACL). This is a devastating loss for the Bradley team, and for Claire. Let's hope and pray for a successful recovery and a return next year.

She is at the game with a knee brace on and a crutch.?

Da Coach or Yoda would probably know more but it's my understanding that they are planning on trying to get the medical redshirt
almost certainly she will qualify

The NCAA requires three conditions be met for a medical waiver (redshirt)
- season ending injury supported by documentation
- must not play past the mid-point of the season
- played in fewer that 30% of scheduled contests
(she definitely fulfills all three- there will undoubtedly be supporting evidence of injury, and she
played in just 8 games, with 31 games scheduled, so 8 is well under 30%)

Page 4 of this document-

HARDSHIP WAIVER CRITERIA
The base criteria has not changed:
Student-athlete triggered use of one of their four seasons of competition
- Injury or illness must have occurred prior to the first competition of second half of the season
- Student-athlete cannot have participated in more than three contests or dates of competition (DOC) or 30% (of scheduled competitions)
(whichever is greater)
- Contemporaneous medical documentation from a treating physician that demonstrates incapacitation through remainder of season.
