Bradley baseball

Bradley baseball has been playing well but it unfortunately hasn't translated into wins...

Bradley lost in the 10th inning today to Wichita to drop to 3-5 in the MVC only one game ahead of last place ISU and four games out of 1st but 6 teams ahead of them

BU softball is 8-9 in the MVC but is 14-24 overall

Fifth-year senior Cameron Roegner (Beloit, WI/Beloit Memorial H.S.) was named to the first-team and earned a spot on the All-Defense Team, highlighting Bradley Baseball's All-Missouri Valley Conference awards announced Tuesday by the league office.

In addition to Roegner, sophomore 3B Spencer Gaa (Metamora, IL/Metamora H.S.) became a three-time All-MVC selection by landing on the second team and freshman DH Luke Mangieri (Peoria, IL/Dunlap H.S.) received honorable mention recognition. Freshman OF Andy Shadid (Peoria, IL/Notre Dame H.S.) joined Roegner on the MVC All-Defense Team.

Illinois State loses to Evansville and is the FIRST team eliminated (double elimination) at the MVC Baseball Championship Tourney

the games are all pushed back a little due to some rain and the extra innings...
they are currently in the 5th inning of the Wichita/Indiana State game (which was initially set as a 12:30pm Eastern start - but it's now 4:18pm there.)
Bradley's game has an anticipated start of 7:30pm Eastern time but since the 4pm SIU/Dallas Baptist game also has to be played, my guess is that the BU game may not start 'til 9:30pm (ET)

this game was a scoreless tie thru 5, but now everyone is hitting...
in the bottom of the 7th the Sycamores rallied for 4 & they are ahead 6-1.
It would have been more except the Wichita centerfielder made a leaping catch to take away a 3-run homer to end the 7th.
..now headed to the 8th with Wichita State on the verge of elimination for the 3rd straight year in just two games.

Wichita is eliminated...

The loser of the Bradley/Missouri State game tonight now faces Indiana State in an elimination game (Friday at 12:30pm Eastern), the winner of the Bradley/Missouri State game advances to the quarterfinals in this double elimination tourney played Friday at 7:30PM Eastern
 
SIU about to pull the upset...
leading 7-2 in the bottom of the 8th vs. #1 seed Dallas Baptist.

edit...now 7-6 after a couple walks then a grand slam given up in the bottom of the 8th
 
pretty amazing...
Matt Duce, the guy who hit the grand slam, and who also hit a homer earlier in the game -
just hit another home run - a walk-off winner in the bottom of the 9th..
DBU wins 10-8

Matt Duce had three HR's tonight and get this- he had NOT hit a single home run all season - in 111 at-bats!!

I stayed up late to watch til the end....
a game that did not conclude until 1am Terre Haute time

Bradley won 10-0 but Missouri State sure helped out...
two really critical errors - one on a totally routine fly ball that the Missouri State left fielder nonchalanted and didn't even know he had flubbed it until he began his trot back to the dugout and then reached in his glove only to find there was no ball there - it was back against the left field fence!

Cam Roegner went the distance giving up just 4 hits

Missouri State now has to come right back and play again at 12:30pm Eastern - facing Indiana State -
then the winner of that game faces Bradley at 7:30pm Eastern

If Bradley wins, they are in the Championship game but if they lose Friday nite, they play whoever beat them in an elimination game Sat. at 3pm to get to the Championship game.
 
Missouri state eliminates Indiana State - beating them 11-4
so tonight when Bradley plays Missouri State - it will be elimination for them only..

In the 2nd game today, Evansville eliminates SIU

So the Final Four is set..

Upper bracket is Dallas Baptist vs. Evansville - that game is just starting now...no score in 2nd inning, Aces left bases loaded in 1st inning
Lower bracket is Bradley vs. Missouri State - 7:30pm Eastern
