Bradley baseball

well, here it is...
bottom of the 9th down 5-2 to the #8 ranked team...

Go get 'em Braves...if Bradley fails to secure the auto-bid to the NCAA, we cannot afford to leave this to the decision of the selection committee...we know how this has happened in the past...

the seeding and at-large bids go out Monday and according to those in the know...
the factors considered are RPI, conference record, and strength of schedule

Good season Braves - let's hope for a bid Monday

Bradley's RPI is around 20 (one comment was that it was up to 18 before title game)
Bradley's conference record was 10-11
Strength of Schedule is not widely rated but some people have it around 100
Road record was 13-11
 
For the record, our SOS is 23 and non-con RPI is 5. Nothing soft about it.

they deserve an at-large bid also and perhaps have a sronger claim than just about anyone in the MVC or elsewhere
..that would be pretty incredible if 3 MVC teams made it but I wouldn't hold my breath

Sorry if I'm off the subject a little T, but I hope this party isn't like the one in 1982 when a big crowd showed up at the fieldhouse to see who the Braves were going to play in the NCAA, but we were snubbed. But the guys went on to dominate the NIT and showed the selection committee they made a mistake. Too bad the baseball team can't go anywhere else if they get left out. If you go or not, great season guys, you surprised us all. Go get EM next season.
 
but there's no baseball NIT...
and everyone's a little nervous - this is a very good team and only an outstanding #8 ranked Missouri State kept Bradley from getting the autobid..

Bradley also swept Top 20 Iowa in two games and knocked off top-3 RPI and Top 10 ranked Dallas Baptist

but it all boils down to the bias of the members who make the selections

The Big Ten is expecting six bids. ..possibly seven!!! Does this worry ya??
Their 7th best team, Michigan or Ohio State, are five places behind Iowa (who Bradley swept), and has an RPI of about 70, while Bradley's is 18.

The 16 regional host sites have been announced for the NCAA Men's Baseball Tournament. Great news for the MVC as both Missouri State and Dallas Baptist were named as hosts. Hopefully that's a good sign for BU. Also Illinois will be a regional host as well. This is the 1st time for all 3 schools to be regional hosts.
 
saw a selection preview show last night on ESPNU, and their gurus thought the "bubble" was very small - only a few teams that were debatable - but they had Bradley IN --
they also had South Florida on the bubble - where Mark Kingston (who was just recently at ISU) took over.... but had them OUT

Congrats! Bradley baseball team!! I was kind of down on the Coach because he was "her" choice but heh proof is in the pudding. He is finally starting to win and had a good recruiting year. Keep it going Coach!!

I think many of us had the same feeling mainly because, IMO, certain posters were putting that in our heads. I'm not a big "her" fan either, but I'm glad the baseball program has improved. Next years recruiting class will only make the program better. Surprised by the lack of comments on the success of the team. Go get em guys.

Congrats to the baseball team. :D Keep extending the season. I am a little surprised they got an at large bid and very surprised at the Louisville Regional #2 seed. I see the NCAA lists Bradleys record as 35-19 for their bracket. Does that mean the committee counted/allowed the 4 wins vs D3 teams when choosing at large teams? Just Illinois, Iowa, and maybe one other team, out of the 64 teams, even played non D1 teams and I think they all did it just once.
