Baseball Playoffs - Cardinals alibis

Have enjoyed this year's playoffs so far. Have always been a White Sox fan but congrats to the Cubs - they have played very, very well and are fun to watch. No surprise ratings for the Cubs-Cards series are thru the roof.

A lot of players having a good post-season thus far but I would have given the MVP award for the series to the Cubs' bullpen. They have delivered when needed.
Speaking of delivering- saw one guy predict a surge in about 9 months in boy babies named Jake, Kyle, Kris, Anthony, and maybe Jorge??

And disappointing after such a fine year - and a lot of really good seasons consecutively -
that some St. Louis Cardinals fans seem to have used the injury excuse.

One interesting side story to the Cubs-Cards game-
Kyle Schwarber's mammoth home run in last night's game landed on top of the new enormous right field video board.
This was a photo taken by a fan at the game just after the home run was hit, bounced around and came to a stop on the top of the video board-

The Cubs have verified that the ball was indeed the one hit by Schwarber, and they decided to create a monument there with the ball enclosed in a plastic vault-

What I think we learn from this year's MLB baseball playoff & World Series

-youth can carry you a long way but no substitute for experience

-bat flippin', hot dogging, show-offy, trash-talking stuff simply will not prevail over solid talent and humble hard work.
Swagger only matters if you hit the ball. In this series, the team with the least swagger easily trounced all comers.

-defense really, really matters - sooner or later one or two bad errors will cost you severely

-and as hard as it is to believe that there are still people who fail to understand how important it is to be able to get the bat on the ball.
How many times did the announcers seem totally stunned that the Royal don't strike out much and don't swing & miss much?
Fundamental, smart baseball.

-hint to other teams' GM's check players's stats and if they hit consistently and can play five positions - then trade for them!
