2026 Portal transfers

He shot 38% from three in 2024-25, but dropped to 31% this year. I remember him from Missouri State. a pretty athletic 6'3" guard.

Well this isn't a good development for Bradley, but definitely will help the Valley:
Cupps was a highly recruited high school player in Indiana, but he was a washout in his 2 seasons at Indiana. He was a starter most of his freshman year, but only averaged 2.6 ppg. Then he was limited by a knee injury most of his sophomore year, and in the 4 games he played he was scoreless.
He transferred a year ago and played at Ohio State this past season, but even when healthy, he proved he didn't belong at the Big Ten level. He only managed about 12 minutes per game off the bench and averaged just 1.7 ppg and shot just 26% from three.
He's not quick enough to play point guard effectively and not very big (listed at 6'2"), not very mobile, and not a high percentage shooter to be an effective shooting guard, at least at the Big Ten level. He was also a defensive liability at Indiana and Ohio State. He's better suited for the MVC, but I'm not sure how much he'll help UIC. I actually think UIC had better guards last year.

Btw, Cupps got a big NIL deal at Indiana, which left the fans a bit unhappy when he didn't perform well, then left after he was recovered from the knee cartilage injury. He even started his own clothing line while at Indiana and the university promoted it and sold it in the NIL web store.

It never sold well in Bloomington. I wonder if it will sell in Chicago?

He (Olivier Rioux) didn't get playing time at Florida....
....another similar 7-6 guy Mamadou N'Diaye chose UC-Irvine - which was the RIGHT fit. He had a really nice career
averaging 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 67% % FG accuracy
Interesting- 7 ft-9 inch Olivier Rioux after leaving Florida signs with UC-Irvine

Another player who Bradley recruited, but did not offer, has hit the portal-
Jonah Funk played at El Paso-Gridley for 3 years, then at Metamora HS last year with Matthew Zobrist. He landed at South Dakota as a freshman this year. He did not play and is eligible for a redshirt year and would have 4 years of eligibility.

Jonah Funk, who redshirted this past season at South Dakota, has transferred to Division II Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
In 2025-26, Upper Iowa was 17-11 overall and 12-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

On3.com (and others) tracks the portal transfers and calculates that 53% of the DI transfers who entered the portal are still uncommitted,
altho only 5 of the Top 50 are uncommitted (they are still weighing NBA Draft options and have until June 13 to withdraw).
But, there are also another 1500 or more lower division players (D2, D3), many who believed they were good enough and
had hopes of landing at DI.
If someone has the time, I'd like to know how many of the MVC players in the portal remain uncommitted.
Bradley had six players enter the portal with only one (Toussaint) left uncommitted.

In Dave Eminian's article a week ago, he said - "There were 75 MVC players in the transfer portal when it closed as of April 22."
However, several are those seniors with no eligibility left who were hoping for a waiver and several more are walk-ons or end-of-the-bench
players who almost certainly will not land at DI.
One of the top scorers in the MVC, Quel'Ron House of SIU is still in the portal.

With a league like the MVC, I am guessing it will be rare for any players that entered the portal to not find a home. Good players have demonstrated they will get interest from power teams, and the less talented MVC players in the portal still have tons of options at lower level D1 schools and then D2 schools. My guess would be most of the transfers that don't land are players from lower D1 leagues.

Former Bradley Brave Trey Pettigrew, who played D2 last year & averaged 17.4ppg then entered the portal,
Has committed to Morgan State University.
Morgan State has had only one winning season (the shortened Covid year) since 2012.

Evansville's Leif Moeller is in the portal.
Leif Moeller signs with UTEP
Connor Turnbull is still in theportal
Quel'Ron House lands at Texas State (kind of a lateral step from MVC, altho they will be joining the new Pac-12)
...Texas State's NET was double what SIU's was

Then I saw this...
an obscure juco kid who I can't find even played anywhere this past season, says he's looking at playing at SIU- LINK
He's from a tiny high school (Ziegler-Royalton, enrollment 130) that I have never heard of just outside of Carbondale.
Apparently had an offer to SIU in 2025 but then was "told.. to leave and basically that they werent actually gonna offer me"
but enrolled at SIU that year anyway. Many of his social media posts are critical of how kids are treated in the portal.
