Bradley gets commitment from Bulgarian point guard Georgi Gerganov

one more thing Georgi posted on his IG
"Wow! I am so happy to see you guys excited about me! ....
Appreciate it a lot! Can’t wait to meet the whole Bradley community in person and get Carver Arena lit "

That's awesome - very rare to see BU student-athletes respond on soc. media with such emotion and more than just a few words!

Georgi's team doesn't play til Thursday, but so far in the two playoff games being played today, the higher seeded
teams, Balkan & Cherno, are winning very easily in the 4th quarter.

Georgi & his team Botev, lost their first Playoff game in a very close game 79-76.
Botev actually led almost the whole game until the 4th quarter.

Georgi had a solid game altho not shooting as well as usual, 18 pts, 8 reb, 4 asst. but Lokomotiv had 6 guys in double figures.
Now, Saturday's game against Lokomotiv is a MUST-WIN in order to stay alive in the playoffs.
Of the 4 series' being played in the first round of the playoffs, the other three first round games were all 20+ point blowouts,
with the higher seed winning easily. This was the only close game, so hopefully Botev can rally for a win Saturday.

I would rather have him here on campus working together with the team.

and I would imagine that he has a contract with his team and might forfeit his salary/stipend if he just leaves.
Their playoff will be over soon, then I suspect he'll be here so he can start getting ready and getting whatever NIL he's eligible for.

He could not officially do that until he enrolls for the summer session, which begins May 20.
Kurt Pegler just interviewed Brian Wardle and Coach Wardle said....
"The new players are expected to be on campus by mid-June.
“They will play in open gyms. It’s a big time to build camaraderie, and as coaches really get a feel for what you have,” Wardle said. “You recruit, you bring players in, you put the pieces together. But you don’t really know until you have them for three or four months.”

I found four different links to watch Georgi's playoff game today.
It starts at 11:15am Central Time

FUBO has it but you have to register and pay HOWEVER-- they have a free 2-week trial offer, so- then you can cancel and your payment will not be processed. I did this once before but I am leery that there will still be a charge anyway. Other services like this and FloHoops
trick you into registering and paying then they make it near impossible to actually get your money back, and even worse, they keep billing for a few months before they do.

Then, there's a YouTube channel - and two different European gambling sites that post the links to stream only an hour or so before the
match, and sometimes these are free, so I will check later.

Botev trails 25-12 after 1st quarter, their shots weren't falling...
They have no big guys who can defend the interior- Lokomotiv kept driving for easy layups
Georgi has 5 pts, 2 reb, 1 asst after 1st qtr - he hit his only 3-point attempt
Funny how they allow constant drum beating and vuvuzelas in the crowd...
and when one of the American players scores, the crowd chants "USA, USA, USA..."

update-
the good news, Georgi is playing well, he has 14 pts, 4 reb
the bad news, Botev has no interior defense and are getting killed inside plus they are hitting their 3's.
Botev is down 58-36 midway thru 3rd qtr but in another stroke of possibly good news - there was one report that
this is a best of 7 series (I really do not know for sure). If it is, then Botev still has a fighting chance.

Further update
Botev is battling back after being 24 down but it doesn't look good. With 4 min left they trail 76-64, Georgi has 17 pts and has hit 3-5 from 3-point, but Lokomotiv is 23-36 in the paint & dominating inside.

based on the scheduling for further games, I do not see that Botev plays again, so I think
this was a best of 3 series and Botev may be done. Will have to wait to be certain
The one quarterfinal series that was split to this point 1 game to 1, does have a deciding 3rd game scheduled for Monday

The playoff bracket confirms that Botev is done & their season is over-
...and their opponent Lokomotiv has advanced to the semifinals.
So maybe we'll be seeing Georgi in Peoria soon.

Georgi's comments from his social media regarding coming to Bradley for the summer-
"...unfortunately we lost and our season finished.
I will have my flight scheduled soon! Most likely I will arrive in the middle of June"

Watching him play yesterday I like his potential. He played on a team that seemed slow and methodical. He sees the court very well. I think he is race horse that is ready to run. He will do better in an uptempo style of play

yeah- unfortunately his team did not have a lot of shooters and no really effective big man...
The fact that he scored 22 ppg and still handed out 6 assists per game says he was doing all he could
to compensate for the lack of scoring elsewhere in his lineup.
