Yet another new BU President

Doubt it. It needs to be someone with a lot of experience in higher education, and with proven success leading a private, tuition-driven school like Bradley.
As I said earlier in the thread, this might be the last chance to get this right before Bradley's situation reaches a point of no return.
Undergrad enrollment in the last few years under Pres. Standifird has shown a concerning decline after rising under Pres. Gary Roberts. And the 2024-25 enrollment numbers look even worse.

Not CW. And I don’t think it’s necessary to have a wealth of experience in bureaucratic academia. You need to be smart and have good social skills. Be credible, visible, and an effective fundraiser. And you need to be able to read a room. Bonus points for already being intimately familiar with BU and Peoria.

You hit the nail on the head Miko. Bradley desperately needs a president who can create a vison, with a sense of excitement and community, that will bring in big dollars quickly. Who in the Peoria area is dynamic, well-known, respected, and able to excite important and wealthy people and corporations to want to become part of a better future for Bradley and Peoria? That's who we need.

Tommy!!:-P

I have a candidate: Dr Chris Reynolds.
He has both a PhD and a Law Degree, proven administrative experience AT Bradley, good people skills, knows the community and understands how BU operates. He would not try to implement what was successful at his previous institution, but would be willing to implement what could be successful at Bradley. BU is not a small version of Northwestern or a larger version of Eureka, but rather a unique institution with its own strengths and weaknesses. Many of our previous Presidents have not understood this concept.

I have personally known all the Bradley Presidents going back to Van Arsdale who served during the 60’s. I would consider only two of them , Abegg and Brazil, to be great Presidents. Several of the others were hired by using expensive executive search firms, which was a complete waste of money. I believe that continuing to repeat the same actions and expect different results is called insanity. It’s time to use a different approach. Yes, I do have some different ideas.

School's about to start. Has Bradley found a new president yet? I would have thought the BOT would have had someone in place by now.

They just hired a search firm, and they don't expect to have a list of candidates for several months. Then they will have to contact each of them, arrange for interviews, trim the list, then have the finalists appear before the Board. Don't expect a decision until well into 2025.

Thank you, Da Coach. I was under the impression this would be done on an expedited timeline.

I’m sorry when folks lose their job but Bradley had way too many majors that had very few customers. The cuts had to come. Maybe others could/should be considered, but cuts had to come and should have come a while before.

The loss of morale among Bradley professors & teaching staff started way before Standifird - and I’m sure you know where it started.
Huge budget & staffing cuts hit every department back 12-15 years ago so that the top of the administration could squander $ tens of millions on a horribly failing athletic dept, multiple ridiculous & unnecessary lawsuits & bloated salaries for themselves that almost broke the bank while destroying incoming freshman enrollment numbers.
