Who is the best high school player you have seen play in person?

SInce it is HS tourney time I got to thinking about some of the great high school players I have seen.

The STL Coke shootout used to incredible with all kinds of D1/NBA talent.

My top 3 Ive seen in person are:

Randy Livingston
Corliss Williamson
Rasheed Wallace

Very interested in seeing what Wiley has to say on this subject. And of course everyone else.

Of recent memory...

Kevin Garnett
Dwyane Wade
Derrick Rose
Kendren Johnson

I've seen a lot of great ones, but those 4 immediately come to mind as being on a different level than the players they were playing with and against.

Kevin Garnett
Ronnie Fields
Melvin Ely
Shane Battier
Lebron James
Shaun Livingston
Eddy Curry
Darius Miles
Dwayne Wade
Derrick Rose
Cory Magette
Tayshaun Prince

And Probably countless others Im forgetting

So I see this thread is best high school player, but all I see are lists. Is the best one or the best player?

My vote goes to Rashard Griffith of Chicago King. Dude was an animal.

tough question because the best high school player I ever saw was Quinn Buckner..but he isn't the player I have seen who turned into the best pro player...that would be Isiah Thomas

Maybe I should have prefaced mine...

Scheyer and Nathan were good but Iguodala did things that you wouldn't believe while in the floor, and as a pro he has continued to get better and better...

But just basing it on what I saw from him in HS...he was a real treat to watch.

Yeah, if we are talking about the best player while they were in high school, Id probably have to go with Sergio Mcclain. Didn't turn out the best, but was incredible in high school. Saw him dominate many players that turned out to be great pro players. Add Frank Williams and Howard Nathan to that list.

Also, forgot these from the previous list.

Laphonso Ellis
Michael Finley
Quentin Richardson

Igudola was nuts! I agree SLB! They had a great team with him and McBride. But I was just wondering how many we could submit because my list would look like Dublr1's. LOL! We have been blessed with having this State Tournament to see ALOT of GREAT HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS!

I'll never forget watching Iguodala and McBride completely torch Southeast, AT Southeast, Andre's senior year and Lanphier. Game was sold out at 5:00, before the JV game started... waiting in line for an hour to see it, and my friends and I didn't go to either school. Alley-oops and 360's galore... wish I had video of that game!!!

I am sure McBride will never forget either. It was the pinnacle of his career!

if anyone was at that game in 1995 at the civic center, you'd say kevin garnett and ronnie fields. real shame about fields--that dunk is forever etched in my memory.

i agree with the guys on this list. for me you can add darius miles to the list. as to the above poster, rashard griffith's king team was incredible, but he wasn't on par with a garnett or even miles.

brian cook was pretty good, too.

we could do a separate thread on your all-time favorite peoria players. oh so many:

shawn livingston, frankie williams, sergio, frank mcintosh, mike robinson, brandon hughes, howard nathan, etc., etc. etc.
