Kentucky is struggling and had only 35 points in the first 30 minutes...Notre Dame was leading by 20...
currently with a little over 7 min to go Notre Dame is up 56-40...I don't do this very often but...
GO Notre Dame!

GO IRISH! Must admit I don't follow ND basketball as heavily as BU basketball, but I still root for them because they're my football school!

Not that this post will generate much interest, but as a native of Peoria and a Notre Dame grad I've kept track of this 'trivia':

There are 5 Peoria natives that played basketball for the Irish:

John McCarthy (Spalding)-ND Class of '30-3 year letterman, 1 year starter

Joe Voegele (Spalding)-ND Class of '33, who lettered 3 years and started 2 for the Irish.
Voegele's son also played at Spalding and then BB at Bradley

Marty Peters (Spalding) ND Class of '36. also lettered 3 years, with a one year overlap starting w/ Voegele (two Peorians in ND starting lineup).
Peters was the Captain of the 35-36 Irish that, in those pre-NCAA tourney days was named National Champions by the Helms Foundation.
Ray Meyer, later the long time Depaul Coach was also on that team and succeeded Peters as Captain of the Irish.

Peters also started at end on the football team. Marty kicked a late FG to upset PITT in 1935: 9-6. The next morning the Peoria Journal Star put Peter's winning FG as the frontpage headline of the Sunday PJS paper.

Ken Wolbeck (Spalding) ND Class of '74. Ken played in the very last basketball game ever played between an ND and Bradley. The game was a Freshmen game in the Fieldhouse. BU frosh won 105-79 to finish undefeated: 15-0

Jamere Jackson (Manual) ND Class of '90. Captain of the 89-90 Irish that went to the NCAA tourney.

Not that anyone asked, but there are 10 Peoria players who have played football for the Irish (listed by the Frosh class that they were recruited in):

Marty Peters E Spalding(1932)
Paul Winsouer C Spalding (33)
Jim Brophy HB Spalding (35)
Ed Larkin E Spalding (37)
Dick O'Brien E Spalding (39)
Corwin Clatt HB E. Peoria (41)
Dan Hecht L Spalding (41)
Bob Jockish DT Central (66)
Marty Best HB Bergan (69) QB in HS-never played varsity although he is listed in the '69 ND Media Guide as a frosh
Ron Mishler TE Spalding (78-from Metamora

thanks capecod - I love reading those kinda of trivia posts

and anyone who's been to EastSide (sports complex in East Peoria for those who don't live around here)
knows the name "Corwin 'Cornie' Clatt" as the stadium up at EastSide is named after him

One last piece of Trivia-ND AND Bradley football related

Joe Prokop Fullback was on the 1939 ND frosh team and played on the 1940 Irish varsity. From Cathedral Latin High in Cleveland,O

Prokop went off to war. Upon his return, with college eligiblity still remaining, Joe transferred to Bradley where he continued his football career.

In 1948 after graduating from Bradley, Prokop played for the Chicago Rockets of the old AFL becoming one of 12 Bradley Braves to play pro football
