TOP Juco recruit Cut Loose by Arkansas

Daniel Payne, who is rated as the #2 (or even the #1) juco player i the NATION, and who was the NJCAA national Tourney MVP in 2007 had been pledged to Arkansas for nearly a year, but has now been cut loose by Arkansas.

There was no official word on why he was released.

"Daniel Payne is no longer eligible to participate," the school said in a two-sentence statement. "The University of Arkansas will have no further comment on this matter."

Sounds like grades may be an issue.

There is a report that Payne
"wasn’t going to graduate from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College and wouldn’t be allowed to enroll at Arkansas.
The university stated in its release that it would have no further comment on the matter."

although someone on the Arkansas premium board posted that he was "kicked out of Coffeyville" for unspecified reasons, which caused him to be unable to graduate.
