Summer BU team news

Just some thoughts...

-Bradley's First Summer (Academic) Session begins Monday June 10 - less than 3 weeks away
I would expect almost all of our players, new & old will be on campus except Rienk Mast & Ville Tahvanainen,
who will both be training and playing with their National teams this summer

-I have not heard whether there will be an "ALWAYS A BRAVE" team this summer to compete in The Basketball Tournament,
...except that OVER 100 teams have already signed up for 2019, and our guys are NOT among them
http://www.thetournament.com/teams
There are some local teams that are signed up - http://www.thetournament.com/teams/peoria-allstars

-I would hope that the team will have some announcements about summer events - maybe open practices, etc
We have been thru this topic before - https://www.bradleyfans.com/forum/sp...-summer-things

-Bradley does not have a summer foreign tour this year but several Valley teams do - https://www.bradleyfans.com/forum/sp...-foreign-tours

- anyone else hear of any news on summer events??

I'm hoping we get some good scheduling news but other than that no news is good news with the roster filled.

Jamir Price is enrolled for the summer sessions at Bradley, though he is tentatively scheduled to attend a post-grad prep school, The Skill Factory in Woodstock, Georgia, this fall.
It is a basketball academy that has programs for 4th grade through high school, plus a large post-grad program.
Here is a list of their coaches. Rob Johnson is the Post-Grad program head coach-
http://the-skill-factory.com/basketb...-c4d424cb-482a

Here is the info about their post-grad program from last year (2018-19). They had 3 different teams, and played in a lot of games, tournaments, and other events.

The NCAA allows NLI signees to attend summer school classes prior to their freshman season and defer the beginning of the college eligibility as long as they are not full-time students (less than 12 credit hours). If a scholarships opens, JaMir could still enroll at Bradley this fall and take that scholarship, but more likely he will play at the prep school and officially start his Bradley basketball career in the 2020-21 season.

All the returning Bradley players from last year's roster are on campus (Bar, Boya, Henry, Childs, Kennell, and Brown), along with the three transfers (Kingsby, Nolan, and McAdoo), and the following freshmen- Antonio Thomas, Stephan Gabriel, Sean Houpt, Riley Burger (see post above this one), and JaMir Price.
Ville Tahvanainen and Rienk Mast are not enrolled, yet. Ville is still in Finland participating with his country's national program.
Rienk Mast's ACL injury was severe enough to require surgery. He will not be playing for the Dutch national team this summer as he had planned, and he is undergoing a rehab program. It seems unlikely he will be able to play for Bradley next season.

Btw, Rienk Mast received multiple awards for his play in the Dutch Eredivisie pro league

I am confused, what scholarship could Price take? It looks like we are full.

You quoted only part of the sentence. The entire sentence is:
"If a scholarship opens, JaMir could still enroll at Bradley this fall and take that scholarship, but more likely he will play at the prep school and officially start his Bradley basketball career in the 2020-21 season."

Also, here is Darrell Brown posting his own highlight video-

Sorry to hear Rienk Mast's ACL injury required surgery. Hopefully his rehab program will be successful and he will be able to fully recover. Assuming he will not be able to play for Bradley next season who do you see filling the "big man" void?

Lol... I must have totally skimmed over that part. That's what I get for reading while on work calls. My bad! Makes much more sense now.

PJS has an article about the summer workouts- one quote of interest but nothing else new reported that we haven't already been discussing here for days to weeks....

"We’re trying to score in under 10 seconds and get back on defense and do it all again.”
Wardle said he believes this group is better suited to a more uptempo style than last year’s team.
“I think we’re quicker and faster.."

The SIU beat guy has a nice column about the Valley in 2019-10
it mentions that MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin is still working on a deal with some other conferences as a replacement
for the now expired MVC/Mountain West Challenge Series...
He mentions...."Conference USA, the Atlantic 10, the Mid-American Conference and the West Coast Conference, but was unable to close a deal."

I don't know if it guarantees anything but the jersey numbers the guys are wearing in workouts suggest these will be their uniform numbers when the 2019-20 roster is finalized
0 - Danya Kingsby
1 - Ari Boya (same as before)
2 - Antonio Thomas
3 - Stephan Gabriel
4 - Terry Nolan, Jr.
5 - Darrel Brown (same as before)
10 - Elijah Childs (same as before)
12 - Koch Bar (same as before)
13 - Sean Houpt
14 - Riley Burger
21 - Kevin McAdoo
22 - JaShon Henry (same as before)
25 - Nate Kennell (same as before)
55 - Jamir Price (not enrolling full time until 2020-21)
? others - Rienk Mast, Ville Tahvanainen

After spending the summer working out at Bradley, Jamir Price's plans have changed. His original intent was to spend the 2019-20 season at the prep school above in Atlanta. But now he will enroll and play at a Division II school where he can play college ball immediately. Good luck Jamir!

Here is the updated Bradley Scholarship Grid as of Aug. 2 with JaMir Price removed-

Scholarship-Grid-as-of-June-30-2019

Dave Reynolds posted this article about JaMir-
https://www.pjstar.com/sports/20190802/guard-jamir-price-decides-against-bradley

Dave believes JaMir "most likely" will choose Quincy University, since they "recruited him hard" out of high school.

However, Dave also says-
Price's decision means another scholarship opens for Bradley next season, giving the Braves at least four available roster spots for 2020-21. There are three seniors this year - Darrell Brown, Nate Kennell and Koch Bar.

According to the Scholarship Grid above, I think that is wrong. There are just 3 scholarship players leaving after this season, the 3 seniors (Darrell Brown, Nate Kennell, and Koch Bar). And, unless something unexpected happens and assuming all other scholarship players return next year, those are the only 3 scholarships that would be available for next year. JaMir was slated to get one of those 3, so by JaMir changing his plans, it now leaves three scholarships for 2020-21, not four.
