SIU loses a player to transfer

They were pretty certain everyone was gonna stay when they hired Bryan Mullins but now Sam Shafer is leaving & transferring
He just sat out his freshman year so now he might have to sit out another year unless he heads to juco and plays a year there.

But NCAA just created a new possibility - and it just may apply to Shafer - they opened up the possibility that a player whose head coach that recruited him leaves before he ever plays, then he might be able to transfer elsewhere and be immediately eligible.
I guess we'll have to see, but I kind of suspect he's already contacted NCAA before making this move so he doesn't have to waste another full year sitting out somewhere else - http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/di-council-adjusts-transfer-rules

I expect maybe some will leave - maybe even some next year mid-season if they find things aren't what they envisioned....
...surprised more haven't yet since that seems to always be the modern trend,
kids don't seem to want to chance playing for a coach that didn't recruit them.
