Some of the best freshmen thus far...

Creighton's Ethan Wragge, playing 15 min per game, is averaging 10.5 ppg and hitting 53.1% (17-32) of 3-pointers.

Drake's Ben Simons is playing 29.5 ppg and averaging 12.0 ppg

Evansville's Colt Ryan leads the league with 34.2 min per game, 14.2 ppg

He could be the best freshman in the league and still not win the award. Other teams require a lot more from their freshmen and therefore they're getting more minutes and taking more shots. So, barring a catastrophic injury I would say there's little chance.
