Reggie Theus Becomes New NBA Kings Coach

Nolan Richardson has applied for the open position as head coach of New Mexico State.
The Athletic Director however states:
"former University of Arkansas head coach did in fact apply for the job at NMSU to replace the departed Reggie Theus but is not a candidate at this point"

Pittsburgh papers are reporting that Herb Pope wants out of his committment to New Mexico State, but the AD at NMSU says
"Although Pittsburgh newspapers are reporting Pope is leaning toward spurning New Mexico State, Boston said he expects to retain all five members of the 2007 recruiting class. Boston added he doesn't plan to grant any player's request to escape a letter of intent"

If Rashad Austin made his decision based on head coach, looks like he made the right choice! And there was some rumbling on here that the "only" school we beat out for RA was NMS . . . that rumbling missed two points: 1) there were BCS schools after RA, too, and 2) Reggie Theus was one heck of recruiter. Very good recruiting win for JL.
