Positive thinking!!!

I was thinking this mornings about how bad things are with BU mens basketball and it occurred to me that there is a positive. It is only up hill from here, we are at the bottom of the barrel and it cant get worse. We have some great recruits coming in next year, I think RA is a product of the new facilities and is a step up for our recruiting. We get SM and TB back and thats a good thing. Life doesn't get much better for a BU fan than this, its all up hill.

GO BU!!!!

This is my thread so all positive comments are welcome and no negative comments will be accepted. Tell me why you are thrilled to be a BU fan?

I think people should be positive just because the alternative is no fun. Life is too short.

well done -- i agree that life is too short.

i'm willing to give coach les one more year to give if the combination of SM, TB, JP, WL, DSE, RA, WE, etc. a chance.

I am too, despite my recent comments regarding what is going on with this program as of late.

I just hope and pray we can at least get through one season without a major injury!

Lost my Mom at Christmas so everything is in perspective for me. Bradley will get better and there isnt any reason to be negative about it. Life is tooooooooo short.

If ESPN was around 50 years ago BU would have been like the Duke's of today. On tv every week. For us who remember those days, it's hard to be negative about the only show in town during the Winter months. Just wish things were going better and I'm sure things will turn around. Thanks for the positive thread Mex.

Thanks Da Coach, she was a very special lady and our family will miss her. Mom loved to give me a hard time about how crazy I am about BU basketball.

And when we finish 5th with that group? Another year because TB will be back and our guards will be older? Wash, rinse, repeat.

As Andrew Warren's mom put very eloquently in a post a few weeks ago, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

BB, you and others who would like to see a coaching change always assume the outcome will immediately be better. That assumption is questionable. There is no guarantee a new coach will turn Bradley into a winner immediately (e.g. this is Marty Simmons' 4th season, Chris Lowery's 7th season). In fact, as there always are, there will be players who leave, and recruits who ask for their release. I know the anti-JL people don't want to hear it, but it is reality. We have a very good recruiting class for 2011, plus 2 All-MVC caliber players due to return next season. A coaching change would likely mean some or all of them won't be here next year.
It is reasonable that a lot of fans do not want to see years of rebuilding, with no guarantee we would be any better.

Spot on post! Sorry about your loss. Yup, basketball and football are just games and there are more important things in life.

Great points DC. I'm torn over whether I want to see a new coach or not, but I do think Les is underachieving with this year's team, and I hope we don't have to take a lot of next season rebuilding the confidence of some of our players.

I also agree that a new coach will not automatically turn things around. A full team of returning players will go a lot further. But there are some shortcomings that really need to be analyzed at the end of this season, such as why our free throwing and ball handling skills are so bad, and why this team that still has a lot of veterans on it was not at least a little more prepared to handle the injury losses. As I said on other posts, I would have been more than happy with at least 3 or 4 conference wins by now, and I certainly did not expect us to pull off what Indiana St. has done either. Something in the middle would have sufficed.

If we get these issues addressed, I still think Les can lead this team to a good season next year, but we have to be more prepared as a team when injuries occur. 0-9 in the Valley just doesn't cut it unless we lose five or six seniors between seasons.

Why Be Positive? Because I'm a BU fan born and raised, and I'll be at every BU game whether they're good or not! They're my team, they're Peoria's team, and someday, somehow, this long dry spell will end! When it does, there won't be a need to be negative anymore! (If anyone thinks about being negative after that, just remember back to this awful start!) BU's part of my life, and I'm all about making it part of every Peorian's life! WE ARE BU!

Da Coach, I respect you. But seriously, let's stop angling.

Many of us who are prepared for change are PERFECTLY well aware success is no guarantee. The people that wanted Mo gone, not only got their NCAA, they got a Sweet 16, which is priceless I understand. But they also got NOTHING else. Be careful what you wish for, indeed.

Not true. I have been told by multiple fans that any coach would be better than the one we have now.
I am not the one "angling". I will support whoever Bradley has as coach, and I will support any change that is made. But why are there some who are unable to tolerate other opinions?

I think rebuilding is what many people realize comes with a new coach, and people are ready for it. It is hard to watch what is essentially the same system being run for the past 3 or 4 years and see the results decline each year. Im just not sure we could have any worse of a season with a rebuilding project than what we have now. We are going to struggle greatly to even reach double digit wins this year and in my mind that is about as close to the bottom as you can get.
