Player suspended for marijuana charge

While Ray Brown has to sit out this entire season for testing positive for marijuana, even though he is not guilty of anything illegal, here is a story that is amazing.
Top incoming recruit at Colorado State, Tyler Smith, was stopped for a traffic violation and cited for possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Yesterday, more than 3 months after the event, the coach declared that he would be suspended for 2 preseason exhibition games as punishment.

Let's see, Ray Brown gets 1 year (possibly over 30 games) and didn't break any laws, and this kid gets 2 meaningless exhibition games. Looks like if any kids want to play college basketball and smoke dope, they are better off at Colorado State.

Nice find, and this is definitely relevant given all the suspensions for DUI's, and yet, here were have a player pulled over, cited for several traffic offenses, then arrested for possession of marijuana in the car.
It's just a joke that the head coach takes this stuff so lightly that he suspends Tyler Smith for only two exhibition games!
Smith had originally committed to DePaul before bailing and going to juco.
Here is some discussion back in July when the incident happened.

BY THE WAY...isn't anyone interested in why the kid is driving an expensive car belonging to a multimillionaire who has ties to agents and the NBA? Hmmm.........

Smoking marijuana is illegal and the penalties for failing an NCAA drug test are clearly stated. Yes, the punishment may be EXTREMELY excessive, but it is what it is. It's sad that Ray would have been better off drinking and driving in regards to playing this year, but it's true. I don't even want to get started on this...I will get too upset!
