OT: Insurance claims

Hey all,
just wondering if someone who has experienced insurance claims can give me an idea, as i have never had to play the insurance game. I had a pipe blow in the basement soaking a substantial amount of my belongings, including my computer. (Hence why you have not seen me on this board howling about our losses). I have renters insurance, and I have replacement value coverage. I submitted my claim with all the paperwork State Farm requested an Wednesday, and I was wondering when I should hear something from them, when i should call and check the status, and how long I should expect to wait for money to replace my property.

Any ideas or help with this process would be appreciated.

I had a pipe break last summer. Live on a slab. Soaked up through my brand new hardwood floors I had just layed. OUCH. State Farm was my agent also and did a great job. Just keep good records, get a reliable contractor to do the work and call your agent before every move.

I had to deal with an insurance adjuster and he was fine. Just wanted reciepts specific dates and such. Again reciepts and records are your friend.

We were reimbursed reasonably quick.

Good luck and stay dry.
