These links are posted in another thread- but here they are again for anyone who hasn't seen them-

Omari Grier is one of a couple other potential transfers Bradley is still looking at. Grier is a freshman at Florida Atlantic, and he is one of the top three point shooters available among potential transfers.-

FAU stats- Grier shot 38.9% overall, 40.8% from three, and 88.9% from the FT line, and scored 6.3 ppg in 14.2 mpg.

He scored a season high 27 points against Miami-

Grier is originally from Erial, New Jersey, a suburb of Philadelphia. He attended the Episcopal Academy in Newton Square, Pennsylvania, where he averaged 17 ppg as a junior. He then played his senior year at Impact Academy in Las Vegas, where he averaged 20 ppg. He then did one post-graduate season at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine, where he averaged a team-high 13.9 points a game, and over 3-pointers a game helping MCI to the New England Prep League title. He then committed to Florida Atlantic University and coach Mike Jarvis in mid April, 2011.

Sounds like his shooting dropped off, then Coach Mike Jarvis became dissatisfied with that and other aspects of his game and benched him. Grier and his family weren't happy and decided to try for a new start elsewhere.

Here is a discussion from the Florida Atlantic message board-

Jarvis is known as a strict coach who doesn't worry about hurting his players' feelings. Maybe that explains why they have several of his recruits bailing out and transferring.

Any word on how his visit went?

Despite what some are saying elsewhere, the visit went very well. Grier was impressed with Bradley, and he left with an offer from Coach Ford. He is a strong kid who is 6'4" and can shoot, and he's the kind of player who would help Bradley. He has since been in touch, and remains very interested.

I think there is a strong likelihood he will take the last open scholarship we have.

And Grier would have to sit out a year since he's a transfer - correct?
Whereas Doyle could play immediately and have 1 more year of eligibility with BU.

Welcome to Bradley OG! I heard this morning that this decision was imminent.

It says that completes the recruiting class...Did I miss something? I thought we had two spots open.

The only 2 scholarships (from Devon Hodges and Donivine Stewart) went to Anthony Fields and Omari Grier- so we now have no more open scholarships.

Great news, welcome to Bradley Omari! Looks like we might of found the point guard of the future with Fields and the shooter we need in Omari. 2013-2014 is looking like a pretty promising year for Bradley fans.

Seems like a good pickup and hopefully with the 4 scholarships for the following year we can pick up a true big, another point guard, an athletic banger, a 6'5" or bigger shooter. There's still a ton of work left for the following year but it is looking good.

Now since we know what the roster will look like next year I'll be very happy if we finish .500. I like the guys that represent us but unless one of the bigs really steps it up and a shooter emerges it will be another long season.

fits the need

fits the need

Great get by Geno and staff..fills a need and really helps you for 2013....expect BU to get a Juco Center for 2013 and a athletic wing...you think Karrington Ward wouldnt look great in the red and white..can you imagine this lineup for 2013...Juco center, Ward, Pickett, Lemon and grier...then you got the Fields, bell, shayok, prosser, wells, and two other freshman coming in...huge increase from past years..i think Karrington Ward is the key...if we can land him and get a monster big guy we will be in contention..look at this roster compared to this years and tell me we are not making strides...go BU

I think a couple JUCO's out of the 4 open scholarships next year would make perfect sense to balance out the classes a little.

Would love a couple immediate contributors. Would be great since we already have the makings of a good team that year.

I am not expecting a huge improvement next year, but the year after, look out !!!
