Seriously do you guys really feel the officials try to make sure the BCS schools win these gams in the tourney?

There are controversial callls all year long in their own conferences.

When you question officials regarding a BCS bias in a game you are really questioning their character and integrity.....and I don't see it.

It seems some are overly sensitive and try to find the BCS bias in every little thing that happens
 
There is nothing blatant IMO but we have no idea what is said and how it is said, how reffs are treated and scrutinized after a BCS/Mid-major game. So if a reff is given positive reinforcement from the guys that sign their pay check after a BCS win and not so positive if a Mid-major wins these attitudes can effect how you percieve a game over time.

This is a fact in all industries. How many times have you heard that a person never got fired from buying IBM, when a smaller competitor may have a better less expensive solution. ;) Analyst can truly effect the outcome of the decsion process and guess who pays them?

Too many times the big boys have gotten the benefit of the doubt even between BCS teams you see where the like of Kansas and Duke get the benefit of the doubt. Can you tell me that this never happens on a consistent basis and if yes then why?
 
BTW there is nothing sinister from the reffs its just that subconsciously they are trying to please the guys who sign their checks.

To be honest I don't study it. I guess I feel if the refs have type of character at all they TRY to make the right call....

I will admit I'm not a huge conspiracy theory kind of guy....I don't try to read things into articles,officials minds, etc....

btw I'm not saying it's not possible what you say but we don't know any of these refs personally and I would like to believe they wouldn't sacrifce their integrity

I agree. The same thing happens in all sports. Take baseball for example. The strike zone for an established great hitter is going to different than a rookie.
 
OK can you explain the call on Sahman right now! That was not a charge. Terrible call!

Didn't see it I was typing an answer to your previous post:)....but charge calls are the worse and we debate thme all the time regardless of who's playing.....

Right. There's no hard proof this indeed happens, but it seems an awful lot of calls inevitably go the way of the BCS teams. I get it that they will get more due to the physical play and bigger players, but a good example of a questionable call occurred at the end of the Michigan St./New Mexico St. game. This was the call against NMS where their player stepped literally one millimeter over the lane line and was called for a lane violation. Come on! An "infraction" like that is never called during the regular season, and probably not against a BCS team either.

Then we had the phantom .3 of a second that was never checked out by the officiating crew either. Not that this probably would have effected the outcome, but it's things like that that perpetuate these conspiracy theories.

All I ask and expect is that these refs just be fair in their officiating by using the same criteria they use during the regular season.

See my post above. I don't think the refs are purposely throwing the games, but sometimes I scratch my head as to what they "miss" at the end of these close games. Nothing that can be proven, but you just never know what might be said behind the scenes, that's all.

And I agree that good play will trump bad reffing anytime, Valley games included! :D
