Messiah Jones on an unofficial visit Friday

That makes at least 2 recruits visiting Friday- Jones and Illinois transfer Te'Jon Lucas.

Messiah Jones updates his recruiting-

“I’ve been hearing from Furman, Florida Atlantic, McNeese State, Winthrop, Hampton, Bradley, UT-Martin, Missouri State, Indiana State, Portland State, and Towson.”

He has two scholarships on the table since he reopened things back up.

“McNeese State and Wofford.”

He looks a little like a left-handed version of Donte Thomas, though I think he is may be a bit more advanced than Donte was as a high schooler.

Somthing tells me that this is a really good fit for us. I'm hoping the feeling is mutual. Would love to see Messiah in a BU uniform for the next 4 seasons!

Better Talent

Better Talent

I like the player too. My guess is that Coach Wardle is raising the bar on the talent he is pursuing for the Braves. I think this is why news recently has seemed slow on signings. Messiah Jones may be an example of this.

Messiah Jones...

Messiah Jones...

Messiah Jones looks exactly like the player we need to replace D. Thomas! He looks very skilled, can jump out of the gym, is athletic, can score inside or out,
etc. Go get him coaches!!

I agree with T, I think he is more limited than people think. DT was taller, and I believe played SF in HS if memory serves. I have liked Jones for a bit, but I see him more as a developmental prospect. He has great athleticism, but needs to develop more skills. On Simeon he filled the inside role, but they had other D1 talent on the floor.

Skills We Can Use

Skills We Can Use

I really like his athleticism around the basket. I think we have all wished for even better athletes than those that have recently left. As Bradley becomes more attractive with 20 wins and ascending to even more, we need that athleticism to keep ascending. Losing Donte hurts, but I'm hoping his strength on the inside would fill that need. We need shooters too, but the number of 3s that Nate and Darrell have made, show that we have a great start on that.

Agree that he will be a project but still a good fit for the Valley in a year or two.

...

and we now know of one more, Chudier Bile...
I like the idea of competition here - hosting three recruits but knowing we really only have two scholarships available...
SO I anticipate the likelihood someone may commit this weekend.

Will The 'Messiah' Resurrect BU MBB?

Will The 'Messiah' Resurrect BU MBB?

Will he be the second coming of Hershey Hawkins?

Will he walk on hardwood?

Can he turn bricks into baskets for BU?

Will he make blind men (referees) see (better officiating for BU)?

Will he lead our BU MBB disciples, to the NCAA Promised Land?

Can he raise the BU MBB team up from the Valley dead?

Does he trash talk in tongues?

All things are possible if you believe in the Messiah (and he signs with BU)

Does anyone know if Bradley is still recruiting him?
his visit here was described as "an unofficial visit" and he gave up the Drake offer and is now fielding offers from McNeese State, Wofford, Florida Atlantic & Towson...
So I would think we filled the spot for athletic forward that we were after when we got Chudier Bile.
Jones mentioned in an interview just last week that he was also "hearing from" two other MVC schools (MSU, InSU) but still doesn't have an MVC offer...

Because we will have so many upper classmen, getting a talented yet flawed freshman like Jones seems like a good move for us regardless of his position. Bring him in and redshirt him so he can develop and then contribute for four years. However playing time seems to be important to Jones based off of some of the comments he??™s made, so he might not be as interested as we should be.

I think the commitment by Chudier Bile most likely means we are no longer pursuing Messiah Jones. It appears he was not offered by Bradley.

could be that after his visit, maybe Jones was not interested in Bradley - we don't really have a way of knowing..

remember - plenty of other examples of kids watching a Bradley workout (Xzavier Taylor, Jermaine Morgan, Josh Cunningham, Kendahl Amerson, and Tramique Sutherland) watching just one Brian Wardle workout with the team and then cutting & running & wanting no part of the hard work...

I love that about Wardle . If you sign up to play for him. I love what that says about you. #TheMovement. Onward and Upward.

I still think we need another big.
