Men's Facility Dedicated...

You can see some of the lettering here in a picture taken during this past weekend's "Elite Camp"

Nice scoop BB......

If someone could come up with Hiesly's Email I think it would be great to send him a thank you.

Very nice! Could be a nice thing to say that an NBA owner has a connection to the program, while also pointing out that multiple players are high-level front office guys in the league in JJ and Hawk.

Does anyone have a ballpark figure for what Heisley paid for the naming rights? I'm not really conrcerned with how much he gave to BU, but rather what the naming rights for a practice court are worth in general.

Remember when they gave the press the tour of the entire facility last week?
You wanna know how they kept anyone from knowing...after all, the lettering has been on the floor for several weeks...
but they still wanted this announcement to be kept a secret and surprise everyone this morning!!

Here's how....the lettering honoring JJ was covered over and taped...and even though it was obvious during the media tour, nobody apparently was interested enough to ask or find out...or maybe a little white lie was told (gasp -- oh no!!)

If you want to see how it looked last week, with the covering on the letters, just freeze the action 6 seconds into this video..

or in this PJ Star media tour video -- stop the action at about 1:09 into the video..

Kudos to the folks at BU and to the Memphis owner and those who made this happen to honor one of my all time favorite Braves!

While at it, be sure to thank Dick Versace and Jim Les, too. The huge donation to BU in Mitchell's name made by Mr. Heisley would not have happened if not for the hard work and dedication of those 2.

J.J. is one of the greatest and nicest players in BU history and for the Memphis owner to donate a sum of money in J.J"s name shows how much respect he has for Mitchell, congratulations to J.J. on having such a great honor bestowed upon you and a very deserving one.

I found the following email address for Michael Heisley.
I do not know if this works, but you could give it a try.-
[email protected]

I'd encourage Bradley fans to take a few seconds and send a brief email expressing gratitude. Let us know if you get a reply.

I don't know about anyone else, but that's one of the cooler things BU has done in a while. I think it's just awesome that Mr. Heisley came up for the event, and that guys like Rick Malnati, Donald Reese, and Tony Barone were present as well. Just awesome!

The Versace era brought a lot of talented players to Bradley and also a lot of great persons, I don"t think that Dick gets as much credit as he deserves for all the good things that he did for the University, without him we would not have gotten to watch the JJ"s , Hersey"s, Thirdkills, Reese"s ,Les"s , William"sand a whole lot more play right here in Peoria.

And just imagine if he would have been able to stick around for another 3 or 4 years...oh what could have been. Thanks, weak administration and NCAA.

But regardless, an incredibly nice gesture by Heisley. Great to see how respected JJ is in the organization.

I've always wanted to know the story of Versace's career at BU and especially what happened at the end with him and the NCAA, what administration's role was, and the inner workings of everything. It was way before my time and I would love to read up on it. Anyone know of any good write ups or a good place to start looking?

I hope the administration make Michael Heisley an honorary alumni. You have to point it out and give the props to the individuals that do good. I wish these were the articles that make the front page news.

There's a ton of stuff out there. They could make a made for TV series out of it. High drama, intrigue, women and power.;-)

This is just really, really special. It's stuff like this that makes me proud to be a Brave. Love JJ!!

I think this is going to be a special season on The Hilltop. :)
