Marshall is out at Wichita State!

That's good news in my book....never liked marshall with his smug attitude and big mouth....nice to see there is some justice left in a big time program like WS who turned and looked the other way for the almighty $ for so many years. :-o  ;)

Sounds like justice is finally served in WSU. Now the question is, who is going to replace him?

CBS Sports and several other outlets are confirming the story-

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

This situation could get ugly, since the overwhelming majority of WSU fans and most of the big money donors are strongly supportive of Marshall (see this post in a different thread)

This decision probably came from the highest administration level, since Marshall essential controls the athletic department. But IMO, they made the right decision. This had become an extreme embarrassment that was never going to go away.

Good. There is still some true justice in the world, and someone with enough principle to make a hard choice when it's in support of the truth.

Former Wichita State star Ron Baker, who played 4 years for Gregg Marshall on really good teams (2012-16) and in the NBA (2016-19) was on a sports podcast yesterday and asked about his experience and opinions of Gregg Marshall. At first he says, "I don't have a lot to say about it right now", hinting that the stories of abuse are true. He could have just come out in support of Marshall, but he doesn't. And he notes that there is a lot of the community supporting Marshall, but "they weren't in the gym when those things were happening".

Funny, many successful coaches are either fired, not liked or both. Just give me a successful coach and a winning program. I know it gets you fired at Bradley.

Crazy. So the contract was written such that even if a coach is fired for cause (possibly even tied to criminal behavior) there’s a severance of $ 7+ million? Perhaps he had the attorneys push for this at one of the renewals because he knew it was a liability.

Yep. What a clown

Either Marshall had enough clout to negotiate such a "Golden Parachute" (maybe he knew this would happen some day), or Wichita State has a ton of cash and chose to pay him to go away rather than fire him with cause and deal with the inevitable lawsuit.

It is now official- Gregg Marshall resigns at Wichita State, and accepts a buyout of $7.75 million paid over the next 6 years.

Assistant coach Isaac Brown will serve as the team's interim head coach.

Wichita State's Interim Head Coach Isaac Brown has done a great job this season. WSU, which was picked 7th in the AAC Preseason Poll, is currently 13-4, and 9-2 in the American Conference, and they are in 1st place-

So Wichita State has rewarded him with a 5 year contract and removed the "Interim" from his title.
