Indiana State has 6 of their players in the transfer portal, 3 more than any other MVC team. However, it isn't as bad as that number suggests-
Tyreke Key- 5th year 6'3" senior guard, but did not play at all this season and will have an extra year because of a medical redshirt
Nick Hittle- 6'10" sophomore center who redshirted his freshman season- only appeared in 16 games, averaged 6.5 minutes/game, and 2.9 ppg
Simon Wilbar- 6'11" redshirt-sophomore transfer from D2- averaged 12 minutes/game and 3.7 ppg
Quimari Peterson- 6'1" freshman guard who appeared in only 4 games and scored a cumulative total of 6 points for the season. He suffered an ankle sprain in the preseason, was slow to recover, but even when healthy, did not seem to be a player the coach had confidence in.
Dearon Tucker- 6'10" sophomore forward, transfer from Oregon State. He appeared in 14 games averaging 10minutes/game and 2.2 ppg. Indiana State was deficient in big inside players, so his lack of playing time suggests his coach had very little confidence in him.
Micah Thomas- 6'0" sophomore guard who transferred in from juco. He was a part-time starter who ranked 4th on the team with an average of 9.7 ppg.
Indiana State was near the bottom of the MVC in scoring, FG%, 3pt FG%, and scoring margin. They could have really used Tyreke Key's presence. But he did not play at all this season. Hittle, Wilbar, Peterson, and Tucker played almost insignificant roles this year. Micah Thomas is the only transferring player who contributed significantly. Jayson has a chance to play a lot because the Sycamores really need scoring and a perimeter threat.
