IHSA School to Close

A long time IHSA member, and member of the Chicago Prep Conference, Chicago Quigley Prep is going to close.
It was founded in 1905 as a private Catholic school with a strong emphasis in preparing students for a life in the Catholic clergy.
Once they had enrollment of 1300 (1950's), and the school was busting at the seams, and so they opened a second campus (Quigley South.)
But that school closed in 1990 and remerged with Quigley Prep, but numbers have still declined.
As recently as 2005 enrollment was 212, but this year it is 183.

The most notable graduate of Quigley???

There have been several, although most not known in the sports world. Here are a couple:

Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Edward Egan, '37

Archbishop Wilton Gregory, '65 Head of Atlanta archdiocese, former president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops

Philip Rock, '56 Former state Senate president

BUT--the one guy most people here on this board would associate with:

Ray Meyer, '33 The late former coach of DePaul University basketball team.
