Just wanted to throw this together and share with everyone:

Average minutes played over the two exhibition games

31.5 - Sam Maniscalco
29.5 - Eddren McCain
27.0 - Dodie Dunson
23.5 - David Collins
23.0 - Theron Wilson
19.0 - Chris Roberts
16.0 - Taylor Brown
14.0 - Darian Norris (1 game)
12.0 - Andrew Warren (1 game)
6.5 - Sam Singh
6.5 - Will Egolf
4.5 - Anthony Thompson

I was really hoping to see more minutes and combinations from our bigs during the exhibition games.

I think we'll be best suited going about 8-9 deep, with the freshman/JUCO's filling in the reserve minutes off the bench (I don't include Dodie in the JUCO group since he's got DI experience). If WE and AT are still a year away, so be it. Bigs tend to take longer to develop anyways, so I am not going to be frustrated if they're still a year away.

Honestly, I think this team is a year away from being as good as they can be. The hope has to be that by year's end this year, they're turning that corner. The 2001 team was like that, and ended up making a run to the MVC Championship Game and the NIT. That team's makeup was very similar to this one.

Shaunguth, you are preaching to the choir with this remark.

6.5 minutes for Egolf for 2 exhibition game does not make sense.imo

The bottom three don't make much sense to me. I thought for sure we'd be seeing some different combinations or use of our bigs over the two exhibition games at the very least.

I believe you are right, Jim will stay with a rotation of 8 or 9, and I think only 6 or 7 of them will get more than 10 minutes a game. Unlike the 2 exhibitions, we will be playing to win the UIC game from the start.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, those 8 or 9 don't appear to include any bigs other than Collins. It'll be interesting to see the distribution of minutes on Friday night.

Agree... but I singled out WE as other than SS, I think WE has the best chance to contribute this year from that group.

I agree and disagree. You know how I feel about playing big, I've made that clear. Looking at these mins. has me worried, I'll be honest. Holding AT and WE back another year makes No sense to me at all. By not playing them at the 4 with DC and SS at the 5 just leaves us open to what you said in another thread the other day. That is we don't have the 3 point shooters that we have had the last 3 years. AW could be our only true 3 point shooter but he's hurt and if Sunday night was any indication, he is not ready and maybe not play 100% for a long time. And he is the only one unless there is someone I didn't see or someone gets it going. Yes you are right, it takes bigs longer to develop but AT and WG are on their second year and should be given a shot to contribute this year. If we were really looking at the young and new guys what the hell is 6 and 4 mins. To have 6'9 and 6'11 on the bench another year will not doubt lead us to be like Cubs Fans with Wait Till Next Year. Your not a Cub Fan?:lol: Also how am I going to be a prophet in your eyes if what I predicted that BU would win the MVC this year does not happen. Just for the record remember I said if we go small its another 4,5,6 spot finish. :( You thought I forgot the prophet thing, didn't you?;-):lol::lol::lol::lol:

OOB has been true to his word. I believe we will need to play big occasionally especially when out shots are not going in. We also need TW to sometimes just pull up and hit the non-spectacular mid-range jumper. I would hope that we can develop the ability to dump it down low and come away with some decent scoring. Let's face it there is not a shooter on the team that can create their own and hit from the 3pt so in order to open it up we need some inside play.

And tell me what is going to happen if he screws around w/ this lineup playing all these guards, not getting AT, WE, or SS many minutes and then Collins gets into foul trouble...?

I plan on seeing Collins in foul trouble in quite a few games as he has still yet to learn to play effective defense most of the time...

Along w/ that, as someone else stated in another thread, if Sam M. is in and lets his man blow past him 10 times a game, DC is liable to pick up some bail out fouls like Salley and Theron picked up last year covering up his weaknesses...

So then we will be playing guys that are extremely raw and not game ready because they didn't get them ready to play...

There are no ways around this, the bigs have to get some more minutes...

I really don't understand the lack of time for Sam, Anthony, and Will... Is it just me or did the Phoenix Suns modify their offense to accommodate more traditional personnel?

Y'ah we're exciting, y'ah a lot of talented guards are going to rush around the court.... But I don't think we can win a league title without a more balanced approach this season.
