Duke's star freshman point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a toe injury in the second half of their game Saturday against Butler. He limped to the bench and came out of the game, but returned to the floor minutes later and appeared OK. He finished with 21 points, 17 in the second half.
But a source has reported that he missed practice Monday, and is now in a walking boot and will undergo an MRI to further evaluate the injury.
Irving, who some analysts rated as the top high school player in the country last year, has been sensational for the 8-0 Blue Devils so far. He is averaging 17.4 points, and 5.1 assists.

A Dookie told me the other day that this game will probably be Seth Curry's "coming out party". We'll see.

Seth Curry does not = Stephen Curry ..you decide...

Seth Curry
--Freshman year at Liberty: 583 shot attempts, 41.7% shooting, 34.7% 3-pt shooting, 2 asst per game, 707 points, 20.2 ppg
...then after sitting out die to transfer..
-- RS-Sophomore year at Duke: 40 shot attempts, 32.5% shooting, 45.5% on 22 3-pt FG attempts, 1 rpg, 1.7 asst/gm, 55 pts, 6.9 ppg

Stephen Curry
--Freshman year: ..523 shot attempts, 46.3% shooting, 41% 3-pt shooting, 3 asst/gm. 730 pts, 21.5 ppg
--Sophomore year: 656 shot attempts, 44% FG shooting, 44% 3-pt shooting, 5 rpg, 3 apg, 931 points, 26 ppg

Interesting stats, but I wouldn't compare their soph years. Stephen was his team. Seth is just another spoke in the wheel for Duke.

Of course not, but his productivity on the court can't be denied.....

Per 40....

15.6 Points (6th on Duke; only Warren and Lemon are better for BU)

2.3 Rebounds (dead last for anyone on either team)

4.0 Assists (4th on Duke; only Eastman and Simms-Edwards are better for BU)

1.7 Turnovers (3rd on Duke; better than anyone for BU)

3.1 Steals (better than anyone on either team)

2.3 Assist/Turnover (better than anyone on either team)

Looks to me like his only real downfall is a lack of rebounding.

Stephen was a special player, no doubt, but he wasn't the entire Davidson team, either. They did reach the Elite 8 and fell just 2 points short of the Final Four to Kansas who the next weekend became champs. They had 3 other solid starters that also were quite competent.

Lovedale, Sander and Richards were solid players as well.

I'm much more concerned about scoring 40 points in the game rather than giving up 100.

I expect something closer to 75-38 than 107-64.
I too am concerned about the small amount of points BU will score, this could be a real embarrassing game and hurt our chances of getting on ESPN Sports channels in the future.

Granted, but Duke can substitute and the sub is just as good as the starter. Don't think Davidson could have done that. That's what I meant.

Duke, and Bradley, both catch a break with Irving hurt before BU game. One less Duke weapon BU has to worry about. Duke can be ultra cautious and let him rest/heal without a lot of risk re results vs BU.

Too bad the headline wasn't 'Duke starters "doubtful" for the Bradley game!' :D
