DaMonte Williams considers transfer to BU; returns to Illinois

A friend of mine is a big Illinois hoops fan and he said the buzz on their message boards is DaMonte Williams transferring to BU for a grad year. Anyone else hear the same thing? He should not count against our scholarships and would be a great addition for next year. Not sure if it is true or not.
 
I would love to see it, he could be a real immediate impact player here. Sounds like it is all just rumors now though. But I imagine Wardle has been at least given a him and Adam Miller a call. You will never know if you don't ask.
 
I actually was just going to start looking into rumors on this because it makes too much sense. I think if Wardle were to offer him a feature spot in the offense it could be something that really could improve his chances of making money overseas. He's not the same kind of scorer, but look at the numbers Nunn put up at Oakland.

For the record, Adam Miller has his name in the transfer portal, but Da'Monte Williams does not. At least not yet.
Until he does enter the transfer portal, it would be an NCAA violation for tampering if Bradley gave him a call.
 
True, in that case I hope he doesn't make that call yet to DaMonte haha.

I assume you mean transfer rules still apply to seniors with that extra year of eligibility due to covid? For some reason I was thinking they would be exempt since their 5th year is optional.


If anything I imagine he'll stay another year at Illinois. Fraizer just announced he will come back for one more year and they have some good players coming in despite Ayo being gone and possibly Kofi too.

I am not saying there aren't other indirect and discreet ways that a player at one school could let it be known he might be interested in a transfer to another school.

Yes. For example, you tell your friend to pass along a little rumor to his friend at the new school’s fan site, claiming there is are rumors going around on your school’s message boards about you transferring. Then you just sit back and watch what happens!
 
Da'Monte Williams announced yesterday he is staying for a 5th year at Illinois. Like I said before this doesn't surprise me, the Illini will likely be a good team again next year.
