BU Commit- 2018- Armon Brummett

Nice find BU freak..
He is described as a 6-4 shooting guard, strong, big upside..
he recently put up 35 pts for McArthur against Springfield HS and 31 against Eisenhower

Armon has an identical twin brother Amir who is going to NIU to play football

wanna see how athletic he is - watch this and this - reminiscent of Rayvonte Rice, Dyricus, maybe a smaller version of Donte Thomas.

Scott Burgess is tweeting that 6'3" Armon Brummett from Decatur has verbally committed to Bradley

Welcome to Bradley! Armon Brummett is a 6'4" guard from Decatur MacArthur High School. He and his twin brother Amir Brummett are both extremely good football players, too. Amir, a quarterback, committed to Northern Illinois last spring, and wide receiver Armon was recruited by midmajor and major college football coaches.
He sounds like an athletic off-guard, maybe similar to an Antoine Pittman type of player.

Nice to get some recruiting news, and it sounds like he will inject some athleticism into the program.

confirmation from the McArthur coach

and a nice column from the Decatur Herald & Review

a couple comments from one recruiting guru
"..6'4 2018 2G Armon Brummett of Decatur MacArthur HS has committed to Bradley Univ & HC Brian Wardle. Absolute steal for the Braves!"
"More on Armon Brummett's commitment to Bradley: absolutely superb recruiting job by Wardle & (Drew Adams).
Highly athletic 2G who can make an immediate impact."

I expect a chance another scholarship could open but if not, we have only one left and won't know about Ari Boya 'til summer...so it will be interesting...

I just heard a few more things about Armon Brummett from a reliable source. :)
Our coaches liked him, but for the past couple years, the reports from him and his high school and from recruiting gurus all over were that he was planning on playing football in college. As a result, he had interest mainly from college football coaches. And in addition to being a highly rated football star, he was also a great track athlete and played baseball, too, so his training was mostly centered around football, track, and baseball, but not basketball. Also, his participation in those other sports kept him from being noticed on the summer AAU circuit, like most good high school basketball athletes are.
But just recently he made the decision to play only basketball in college, and he is having a great senior season for the Decatur MacArthur basketball team. Our coaches have evaluated him a lot but at first were disappointed he was leaning toward football. That fact also has lead to none of the recruiting experts writing about him or evaluating him as a basketball player, and that's why he doesn't show up in many recruiting databases. It also accounts for the fact that only a few college basketball coaches have bothered to check in on him before now.
He is a tremendous athlete, and our coaches believe he is very talented. He is said to be a good shooter, and good at getting to the basket, something the Bradley team lacks. His athleticism is also needed. They feel that once the word got out about him deciding to concentrate only on basketball, something he has never done, that a lot of coaches would quickly become interested.
One source called him "a steal" for Bradley!
Let's hope he is as good as advertised!

From reading the newspaper article you can see the passion this kid has and it sounds like he??™s a really good fit for what we need, a shooter and very athletic player. Welcome to the Hilltop Armon!

Armon Brummett was at the game tonight with his coach & uncle...
Coach Ingram is a native Peorian, was an assistant at Manual HS and helped guide this young star towards BU! This is encouraging given how we've heard in the past that nobody linked with Manual will ever look at Bradley
I think Armon felt quite welcomed by the nice crowd

The journal star says his team will play at Peoria high on Saturday. Maybe some of our Bradley die hards will make it to the game and give some personal scouting reports. Some quality video would be stupendous to see.

The game involving Decatur MacArthur vs. Mt. Zion will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Peoria High School in the Winter Throwdown. Let's show Armon Brummett some Bradley support!

Unfortunately, since Armon had school today and he & his coach had to drive 1 1/2-2 hours back to Decatur - they left in the middle of the 2nd half and missed a few of the most exciting plays -- the high flying lob/dunks, etc that I believe he's gonna be doing some day.
He's definitely a quiet kid as that Herald-Review article says, but so are DB, Eli and a few of our others - but he seemed like he had a great time on visit.

BUT -- Armon is going to get on TV and be interviewed on WAND-TV in Decatur
...check it out...it'll be on WAND News, Weather & Sports at 6 pm and 10pm - http://www.wandtv.com/category/314208/program-schedule
a lot of their reports then get posted to watch on video right here - http://www.wandtv.com/category/99887/local-sports-news-video
..but I do not see any way that it can be watched live or streamed unless you are in the area or it's on your cable system.

Good Get

Good Get

Here's the interview with Armon Brummett on his commitment to Bradley
http://www.wandtv.com/story/37345335/armon-brummett-discusses-his-commitment-to-bradley

They also talk with his coach Ron Ingram who is from Peoria - both are all smiles and really happy about Armon playing for Bradley
...and even a short mention that maybe "the Sweet 16 about 10 years ago" had something to do with his decision!

I saw the video clip on Armon leaping from the right lane line and putting the ball in the basket. Great athlete! He sounds like a nice, well mannered young man who will be a credit to Bradley and his family.

Go Braves!!

It's great to see us recruiting great young men and better athletes than the former regime brought in. The same regime that all but destroyed our great basketball tradition. With a great AD and coach we seem to be turning this program around again. Let's go get one on the road at Indiana State this weekend!
