BU 73 Detroit 65

I liked the way AT played, he had a good game, getting a chance to warm up and play extended minutes. I liked watching him go against #20, that was a good match-up.

I liked the two bigs lineup which got us the bigger lead in the first half. We were actually going to the post players and making our layups and short shots. Was surprised we went to the four guard later in the second half but JE did play great, I think the four guard, not talking about JE, helped them get back in the game but I suppose we went to 4 guard because of foul trouble.

I think we've established our 3 bigs - AT, JP and WE, any two at a time and the third one comes in to substitute.

We looked really good, very impressed, why did it take 11 games to look this good. I hope this was the confidence builder.

Go Braves

:D

Nice game by all the Braves.
Dodie had 18 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Andrew had 24 points, 6 rebounds, and played great defense on their second-leading scorer Chase Simon, who was just 2 for 10 and was held about 10 points below his average.
Jordan Prosser with 5 points and a team-leading 8 rebounds in just 20 minutes, and good defense on their big guy Holman.
Will Egolf had 11 points, 4 rebounds, and also played some good defense inside.
Walt Lemon did not shoot well, but his ball-handling and quickness helped a lot on both ends.
Anthony Thompson looked better, and had 2 nice blocks.
And Jake Eastman was great- 25 minutes, 3-4 from the floor, 1-2 from three, 7 points, 2 rebounds, and a bunch of hustle plays and deflections.

And I have to complement the coaching staff, as well. Bradley's defense was good, and the offense showed some new wrinkles that seemed to help. That was the highest point output for Bradley this season, and the 9 turnovers was one of the lowest all year.

And the crowd of 7,781 was outstanding!

Very good game tonight....was worried at the end whe n it was close.....but everything worked out....also got something from almoswt everyone who played.....good game by AW.....but thanks to DD for getting some scoring going to lighten the load...very fun!:D

Sort of off-topic, but would it ever be possible for Bradley fans to cheer as loud for the actual team playing instead of for free wings on a half court shot? No disrespect to the shooter. By the way, does anyone know what he won for making that shot?

For 30+ minutes of this game, we saw the BU basketball team we have hoped for the past couple seasons....Hustling, ball movement, penetration, rebounding, balanced offense, ball hawking trapping D.

I don't know why or how the players BU will be left with this season have turned this around, but will give credit to the players and the coaching staff.

Without the "big two" playing, wonder if the offense is more balanced, and, the remaining players don't stand around waiting for them to win the game for them.

Watching BU play tonight, with little offensive help from DSE or WL, if the team can make continued improvement......who knows?

Got to continue to cut down on the missed bunnies, poor passes, and the inevitable defensive lapses...and remember what earned them this win....Over 15-20 inside baskets from penetration and interior ball movement. No over reliance on chuck a three. Can only recall a handful of untimely long jumpers attempted, which coincidentally, coincided with Detroits run. Really no need for WL, DSE, DD (or even WE) to launch 3's/long jumpers with the way BU was able to get the ball inside for most of the night.

As the one man AT fan club, he is getting better! He gets pinned behind his player at times in the paint, and, needs to finish some of his shots, but he also had a huge put back tonight, and has blocked 5-6 shots the past several games. I got to believe he opens things up for WE or JP when paired with them, as well as the other interior players (AW or JE). Just got to stay active on D and move quicker between being behind and fronting his player on D. Get more aggressive! I hope his PT drives more desire and intensity to earn more time on the floor the rest of the season.

As for WE, he needs to learn he can not play "post" defense when he wanders out on the wings or has to jump out on switches. Stuff he can do/get away with banging in the paint, can not be done outside the paint without being called a foul. Great offensive night for him! The return of the "Alaskan Avalanche"...Snell said WE's parents were at the game tonight visiting from Alaska....How exciting for them!!!!!

I think my favorite play of the game was when Warren pwned the 5-star at the end of the game and bloodied his lip. I really liked that. :)

Naptown and family have been to every game, including the ones in Massachusetts and Durham. In fact, they haven't missed more than a couple games in the last 5 seasons. What a great family!

Good win tonight. Was good to be at my first game in awhile after being away at school.

My thoughts: Warren was good, although he did disappear for a little bit in the 2nd half. Good effort on both sides of the ball tonight.

Dodie really picked it up and played very well.

AT got to play against his twin and played very well. Did anyone else find it funny that #20 looked EXACTLY like AT and played a little like him as well?

McCollum or whatever his name is is going to be a good player for Detroit. If he had a little better of a supporting cast this would be a very good basketball team.

All in all, good game for the braves.

On another note, I really wish they would use the noise meter when it really mattered, not in the middle of a media timeout when everyone just sits back down and waits the rest of the 45 seconds or whatever was left in the media timeout. When they first put the thing up there it actually got loud, but then they took it down while the timeout was still going and it got quiet again. Just my 2 cents.

I thought this was as close to a complete game that we've played so far this season. Still need to cut down on some of the silly fouls we seem to committ but our defense was pretty solid for the most part. The last 2 games we have certainly done a better job of executing our offense as we've shot the ball very well. Let's take this momentum from the last 2 games on the road to ISU Blue and get us a road Valley win.

My oh my what a difference two wins makes on the future outlook of the season.............

Play hard and smart and get contributions from JE, AT, and Egolf staying on the court more than 20 minutes and there's hope for respectability. Maybe more?

A weak Valley and anything can happen. Great win!!!!!

Obvious to me how much a difference coach Platt has made with our bigs offensively and our defense has been better, Will quit fouling 25ft. away from the basket as we need you in the game, you could ave. 12 to 15 a game if you could get 30 min. instead of 20 or so, Dodie has done a great job running the point, Jake and Jordan are contributing every game now. Walter makes things happen and Andrew just keeps putting up big numbers even though he is a marked man, he took a beating trying to get open tonight and could have shot 10 to 14 free throws had the refs called Detroit for all the grabbing and holding they did to A.W., nice team win and hoping we continue to play with confidence when we travel to Ind.St., Merry Christmas to everyone and hoping for more Braves wins.
