This could somewhat directly relate to recruiting in the future. If some of y'all didn't see President Glasser's e-mail update today, she stated that overall 2009 freshmen enrollment is up 16%, East & West coast admits are up 66% and out of state admits are up 30%. If anything, that will spread the word across the US and maybe get a few extra looks at BU sports.

Those numbers are good and encouraging. These are early admits (December:December numbers), which are important. But it's only a small sample. The real key will be where the numbers are at the beginning of February.

They are also up because the last two years numbers were the lowest in a ten year cycle.

But that ten year cycle saw unprecedented growth and increased competitive respect.

The next couple years are critical for BU's coffers. 4 consecutive years of down growth may result in the university dipping into its endowment.

Just a little historical perspective.
