Bradley's Women's Coach

I wonder how Cross evaluated Paula? Has anyone looked at her record over the past 8 years? Not very good....

Since 07-08...

First back-to-back winning seasons in WBB since the 80's.

First postseason appearance in Bradley history.

A school record in wins in a season (21)

Also... "Bradley has drawn eight of the top 10 and 17 of the top 20 crowds in program history during Buscher's tenure."

And you have to remember that Women's and Men's basketball don't have the same history and tradition, and don't have the same expectations, no matter what anyone says.

I don't think you're considering all of the factors that should be considered when evaluating a program.

For instance, what is the budget? How does that compare to peer programs?

I would expect with the new facility that there will be a greater emphasis on women's basketball moving forward. Up until now that program has always been an afterthought with no real expectation for success.

Primarily, I am just looking at her win/loss performance, which is really very poor. How do you raise the quality of a program regards win/losses with such poor perfromance?

What are your expectations for Bradley Women's basketball afan?

Afan, have you ever even attended a women's basketball game? Not that you need to to have an opinion...I'm just wondering.

If you haven't been...why?

I know why and so does everyone else - women's basketball isn't the same as men's...stop trying to compare the two.

Are we on witch hunts here now???

I don't have time to look for the quote, but didn't AD Cross say all coaches/programs would be held to the same standards?

Very well stated-by the way yes I have attended a women's BB game and have taken my granddaughters-not everyone though but try to get to a couple a year

I would think losing your last 12 in a row to your biggest in-state rival would be grounds for evaluating the program and the level of expectations.

That's what at least 5 1/2 to 6 years of losing to an in-state rival which hosts the IHSA Girls State Championship on their floor. The talent between the two schools isn't close. I was there last week and lets just say if ISU hadn't had most of the team suffering from the flu as was reported, it might have been as ugly as the game in B/N.

If building a new facility, who's primary tenants are the Women's athletic programs (Basketball, Volleyball) isn't worth the same scrutiny as the Men's program, then I'm speechless.

This was even supposed to be a down year for ILSU and they still finished 2nd.
What do they have that BU doesn't have to retool year after year?

What's worse is that PB is an ISU grad too isn't she? That has to stink that they're on their second coach, but the results remain the same.

Oh well as Cub fans say. Wait til next year.

Right now it's a "loss leader"...... Title IX. I expect that to now change with our new facilities and Cross' record of success in winning the All-Sports Trophy while at Princeton.

My expectations for the women's program has just increased considerably with the new facilities. It does seem that Paula has upgraded our recruiting so just like I felt JL should have had I'll all for one more year.

My point exactly...Are there double standards to Cross's expectations. Yes, I have been to women's games. While the women's team is an afterthought now, why can it not be a money maker if they win? You don't think that a lot of fans would go to games if they won? Of course they would. No, I am not a head hunter, but I do believe that what is fair for one (coach Les) should be fair for all..Don't you????

I am not comparing the two sports... However, I do believe that what is fair for Coach Les should be fair for PB, and all the coaches...you agree, right???

Because none of them are. None.

Not Tennessee, not UConn. None.

And you can't evaluate WBB (or any other sport) the same as MBB until you give them equal resources.

Then I guess Dr. Cross's comments about all coaches being evaluated the same is simply not true....For the third time, I am not comparing WBB to MBB. I am comparing one coaches level of performance with another coach's level of performance and basing it on Dr. Cross's evaluation criteria. Just fact, over the last 7 years PB has not performed. She has gone down this year to another losing record. I think that we could do much, much better.

afan -- there's a lot of people who can plainly see that some words being spoken are simply not true...you have to look at the source and examine the history and background -- where it's coming from....
