Bradley’s Jack Crull makes NCAA 1,500 meter championship

Crull got caught in the middle of a pack of runners and there was a lot of contact-
but he still finished 6th - nice job Jack! LINK

Jack's time, 3:47.61, was a personal best time and less than 1/2 second behind the winner

Great job, Jack! Crazy that 3:47 was a 6th place finish! The times kids are running at these days are just unbelievable!

Great Job! When is the last time Bradley had an All-American in track
What’s kinda interesting is that Bradley doesn’t really have a track team.
They have a Cross Country program and many of the athletes compete during track season in the longer distance events.

I thought there was a tie in between Cross Country and the distance programs in Track. Bradley has been very successful in Cross Country as of late

Bradley fifth-year senior and standout Track & Field student-athlete Jack Crull delivered a remarkable performance in the Men’s 1500m Championship, finishing in sixth place with a time of 3:47.61. His outstanding effort earned him First Team All-American honors, a prestigious recognition that places him among the elite in collegiate athletics.

Crull becomes the first Bradley athlete across all sports to be named a First Team All-American since Wilma Neilsen achieved the honor in Indoor Track & Field in 2023. Even more notably, he is the first Bradley athlete to earn First Team All-American recognition in an NCAA Outdoor Track & Field event since 1955—a historic milestone nearly 70 years in the making.

Capping an exceptional collegiate career, Crull joins an elite group as just the fourth male Track & Field runner in Bradley’s 100+ year history to qualify for three consecutive NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He follows in the footsteps of Alec Hartman (2018, 2019, 2021), Jack Hintzman (1947–1950), and John Russell (1929–1931), securing his legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats.

Hopefully many more to come. Great recruiting fact for the Cross Country team

I will say I think I could run the course in 3:47.61 but it would be 3 hours with a stop off at Kelleher's to get hydrated

Way back in 1932, a Bradley track & field athlete won an Olympic Silver Medal (he was screwed out of the gold) in the long jump.
Read about it here. Note the explanation about the controversy near the end of the article-

Charles Lambert “Pat” Redd....
In 1932, Redd won the only individual Olympic medal ever earned by a Bradley University athlete, taking the silver in what then was known as the broad jump. And he might have won gold, if not for a hotly disputed scratch on a jump that measured more than a foot longer than that of the eventual winner.
