Bold BU v. Wisconsin Prediction

I was thinking about this team last night, and I came up with a bold prediction for the game tonight. I think that the team will have a fire lit under its A** after the events from the other night, and this will only build the amount of heart that they play with. I also think that the team will play loose tonight, as the spectre of poor shooting from the other night will have disappeared and they have almost nothing to lose in this one, which should improve the shooting from Wofford.

That leads me to my prediction, I think that BU plays the best game we have seen the team as a group play in a few years. They lose the rebound margin slightly and get beat inside, but play scrappy ball and scrape out a 73-65 win that is a lot closer than the score makes it seem as Wisc. fouls in desperation in the end.

I know somewhere deep down guys like TB, DSE and Prosser have the skills to compete at any level, and something tells me we finally see a game where they all look good at the same time.

Short version: BU over Wisc. 73-65

My bold prediction...

My bold prediction...

Ok, I apparently haven't had enough of the kool aid that you'll have been drinking, so Ill be real.

Wisconsin beat Wofford by 36 and Wofford beat us (at home). Wisconsin was probably deep into their bench for a chunk of this game. Probably could have been worse than 36.

Wisconsin beat UMKC by 46. We beat them by 10 but it was a closer game than that, we finished with an 11-2 run.

Wisconsin's other 2 wins have been by 54 and 27.

Wisconsin is ranked 11th in the country.

I think it would be BOLD to say we lose by less than 25.

But, being a BU fan through and through, here is my prediction...

With 2.5 seconds left in the game BU is down by two with the ball out of bounds near half-court. DSE throws an alley-oop inbound pass to TB who catches it midair on his way to the hoop and reverse-twohanded-tomahawk dunks it over Rob Wilson and gets fouled. He makes the FT with 0.1 seconds left and BU wins by one. 7 or 8 five star recruits who are considering Big 10 schools are at home watching the game. After witnessing this finish they all decide to attend BU next year. We then parlay this win into 3-4 consecutive final four runs. Also, the TB dunk is #1 top play on ESPN tomorrow and later wins an ESPY.

Ya just never know!

Great story but you didn't finish it.

"AUNTY EM, AUNTY EM!!!"

This could be the kind of game Walt could really do well in...like Duke...but I still think we'll get clocked....

Wisconsin has historically been a TREMENDOUS home team but a near-mediocre team on the road and away from home..

Despite consistently winning 20 to 30 games every year and winning over 90% of their home games, and virtually NEVER losing at home to a mid-major...
here's their W-L record away from their home court...

Road games, then all games away from home:
2011-2012: have not yet played a game away from home..
2010-2011: 5-6, 9-9
2009-2010: 5-5, 8-8
2008-2009: 4-7, 7-10
2007-2008: 10-2, 15-3 (finished overall 31-5)
2006-2007: 7-3, 11-6
2005-2006: 1-8, 4-10
2004-2005: 5-6, 7-7
2003-2004: 5-6, 9-6
2002-2003: 6-5, 6-6
2001-2002: 5-8, 5-11
2000-2001: 5-7, 5-8

so in a DOZEN seasons - going back to the last millennium...
Wisconsin is 58-63 in road games and 28-21 in neutral site games and thus 86-84 overall away from their home court...
In that same interval - their home record is an amazing 179-18

Notable - Temple was the last midmajor to knock them off at home in Jan. of 2006,
and Missouri State knocked them off in Nov. of 2006 in the South Padre Island Tourney

Also - Wisconsin has LOST in each of their early season neutral-site tournies in..
2010 - to Notre Dame
2009 - to Gonzaga
2008 - to UConn
2007 - didn't play in one
2006 - Missouri State
2005 - Eastern Kentucky took them to Double OT
2002-2004 - didn't play in one
2001 - lost TWICE to Weber State & Hawaii
2000 - didn't play in one
1999 - lost to Michigan State
1998 - did not lose in Alaska...
..so you have to go all the way back to 1998 to find the last time they went to an early season neutral site tourney - and won all their games in regulation!

Not a bad list of teams though and maybe not ranked 11th in the country at the time

so you sayin' we just throw in the towel? ;)

You know me better than that:)...actually while Bo is a very good coach, for some reason I really don't like him.....I would think Wisky would want to do well in front of a Chicago area crowd

Bo doesn't waste a whole lot of scholarships - most of the kids he lands know the game and are talented..

Jordan Taylor's (preseason AA) stats have been pretty human for four games but i think he could go off

Taylor is the real thing. If Bradley doesn't keep it close, no need for Taylor to go off.

"Pretty human" so far with 31.5 minutes per game and 8.3 ppg on 7 shots per game (1.5 ft's shot per game). Last year Taylor played 36.5 mpg, scored 18.1 ppg and took 13.5 shots per game (with an additional 5.4 ft's shot per game).

Wisconsin's average score this year so far is 74.8 to 34.0.

Superman hasn't had to take off his cape yet.

Bold BU v. Wisconsin prediction!

Sat morning the sun will rise again and BU fans will thoroughly dissect the team and coaching staff's efforts vs the Badgers, and optimistically look forward to the next BU game!
