ACC vs Big X

SFP

New member
I already have a 2 jar bet with MM that the ACC will win again!

Duke looks good right now but this game is long from done. I predict Duke by 7-8.

Illinois looked pretty good in a losing cause. BW must be mad that they could not get a shot off at the end. What were they thinking?

Purdue is going to have to be able to open the game up a bit if they want to score. Duke is playing great D and they are keeping Purdue from running a consistent offensive set.

How come BW doesnt call a timeout when they got the rebound that wouldve left him 10 seconds? thats bad coaching, but it was still a very selfish play by McCamey

and the ACC is takin it again this year

I admire your willingness to go out on the line SFP.................... But the B-10 wins this year.
B4L, he's want to to bet and predicting Duke by 7-8 and their up by 8 at the half. Something just don't sound right here:? Explain this to me SFP:roll: Your not one of those, (I Win, You Lose).:lol: Don't do it B4L I'll buy you a jar and I'll in clue one for you SFP:lol:

I'm not sure why he did not call one except he probably called a play before the Clemson guy shot his FTs. I'm not sure what the Illinois guys were thinking. They needed to either go inside or take a quick shot to give themselves another chance if they missed.

I guess I can hope B4L and SFP never come to town at the same time as I think it will be a complete night on MM.

Duke is looking really good. I don't care how much time is left and if the refs try to "make it interesting" - this is Duke and they always get the calls. ;)

They didn't have any timeouts left to call

Tied up 3-3.

Florida St @ NWrn
Penn St @ Georgia Tech
Michigan @ Maryland
UNC @ Mich St
Indy @ WF

I think I am in trouble.

I am not sure what GTECH and FL ST have back from last year... but it appears Michigan might be the only game the Big 11 wins... if they play like they did in the game vs. UCLA

I'm pretty sure they had one left but BW called the play during the free throw. It was suppose to go to Meacham off a screen(and he was open) and then either take the shot himself or pass to Chet.
Weber even made the comment when they were leaving the huddle "now everyone knows what they are suppose to do right?"

Final analysis.......McCamey is a bonehead

I heard the announcers say Illinois did not have a time out at that point, with 11 sec to go.
if that be the case, then the coach has to take responsibility for that!!

BUT here is the play-by-play and it is clear that Illinois had used only 4 time outs and this proves they still had one.
Thus, even more, it is the coach's obligation to get a time out and with 10 seconds left draw up a play that'll get a shot.

found this discussion on the Illinois board, indeed in his post-game radio show Weber admitted he had a time out but didn't call it, although the announcers had said there were no time outs left.

also, didn't the Iowa player have a time out with 2 sec. left, instead of trying to throw the ball back in?
even though Brommer was fouled, he is such a bad FT shooter, he missed the front end of the 1-1.

Looking at the IOWA replay they could have made the argument that Brommer was shooting and should have gotten 3 ft's. It seemed to me he was trying to shoot the ball.

The announcers corrected the no TO comment and said they had two left when they called one before the Clemson ft. They called the play then so Clemson couldn't guard the inbounds. It makes sense to me really..
Now if Weber didn't like how things were going during the play he could have called one and regrouped.....bottom line...McCamey is still a bonehead

I saw the play also...and I know the possibility exists that Brommer was actually shooting, but...

--first, neither he nor the Iowa bench made any effort to petition the refs in that regard, so just maybe Brommer was just trying to save it inbounds.

--second, I watched the play several times as they also showed it again and again on the ESPN reports...
if you want the refs to actually make that call and think you were shooting, you should at least eye the basket, or make some attempt to turn and face it, and I can't say Brommer did either.
Thus, I think the refs simply couldn't conclude at all that it was a shot.

If Maryland plays like they did against Mich St then it also should be a close one. This game is at MD and expect this one to go to the wire.

Florida St @ NWrn - I'm not really sure about either team
Penn St @ Georgia Tech - GT should win
Michigan @ Maryland - toss up
UNC @ Mich St - UNC should not lose to anyone
Indy @ WF - WF has some studs and should coast in this one

MM I gues by the end of the night you will owe me 2 jars. LOL

My picks (and they're usually wrong):

FSU
GT
Michigan
MSU
WF

Looks like the ACC again (but the B-10 is gaining ground)

Buy him a jar Mac ;)
