Valley Recruits

I could be wrong on some but according to the numbers, here's how many open scholarships each MVC team has
(assuming each could give as many as 15 scholarships or have 15 rostered players)

Belmont 2
Bradley 2
Drake 4
Evansville 6
Illinois State 3
Indiana State 1
Murray State 3
SIU 4
UIC 3
UNI 2
Valpo 3
now we're a month later and still most MVC teams have spots to fill
Here's what appears to be the number of scholarships still open...
(not sure of some, as there's teams who haven't posted their updated 2026-27 roster)

Belmont 1
Bradley 2
Drake 3
Evansville 3 or 4
Illinois State 1 or 2 (Leyton Wolf is a walk-on)
Indiana State 0
Murray State 2
SIU 2
UIC 3
UNI 2
Valpo 1

Evansville picks up two late import high school commits, including a 7-footer, altho Pinas is already 20 y/o so he won’t get 5 yrs of eligibility

UNI gets 2027 commitment from a Des Moines kid, 6-8 forward Alfred Kolee
According to reports, Kolee was very impressive this summer. Also had offers from WIU & UC-Riverside

UNI is also promoting their new brand of beer on sale at home games this coming season

Here's a funny one....
a kid named J'dyn Lloyd commits to Missouri State and he apparently thinks Missouri State is still in the Missouri Valley
(btw- Drake, ISU, Valpo and SIU all had also offered this kid)

His staged commitment photo depicts the Missouri State Bears logo next to the Missouri Valley Championship trophy

BUT -- zoom in on the trophy- it is the 2019 MVC Tournament Championship trophy!
Missouri State DID NOT win that year - guess who did?
BRADLEY DID!!!

Note- Missouri State has never won the MVC Tourney Championship as "Missouri State", although as SW Missouri State, they did win it once in 1992
..and they only won the regular season championship once, in 2011.

What makes it better is that they did win the women's tourney that year

4th school in 5 years (Pepperdine, Montana, Xavier) - hit 38.5% overall last year and 31.8% from 3-pt, along with
3 reb & 3.8 asst. He'll likely take playing time away from the guys who have already been there working all summer,
(especially Demarion Burch, Ty Blake & Zaxton King) ...but that's life in the portal era.

It is pretty impressive to add a Big East caliber starter, 5th year senior, and double-digit scorer this late in the recruiting cycle. He averaged 3.8 assists per game, which is more than anyone on Bradley averaged last season. And in the 3 seasons he played at a mid-major level, he shot 39.2% from three.
Stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5105454/malik-messina-moore
I think adding this kid puts ISU in the running for the top of the league.
