Montana gone- Transfer Portal news

Tough. Hopefully we can retain richardson and johnson. Don't see montana being that much more successful at a higher level, in fact he'll probably struggle. Has to be for the money, grass isn't always greener

This is obviously a money issue, hope we find another point guard that is taller, hard to understand why after the amount of playing time he got would go somewhere else unless a lot more money. I know we have to get use to this stuff but it does not mean I have to like any of this stuff.
The University needs to wake up and contribute a lot more because ewhen the mens basketball program wins championships the school does much better.

Wheeler is a long way from home, and his family wasn't able to see him play in person. I think those factors were part of his consideration.
He isn't suitable to play the 2-guard, because of his size and defensive liabilities, and he was only 33.7% from 3-point range.
Plus, as I posted in an earlier post, he did not start a single game, and played mostly as a backup when Jaquan was off the floor.
So if Jaquan returns the next 2 years, Montana's playing time might not increase much.
Sorry to see him go. He was a valuable part of the rotation, but this isn't the same as losing All-MVC players like Terry Roberts,. Rienk Mast, or even Connor Hickman.

Not surprised at all...Will be surprised if there are not a couple more...it's just sad how the NIL has ruined college basketball for me and why I do not get attached to any players anymore!🤬🤬🤬👎👎👎👎👎

I expect BU to part ways with Seastrunk, too.

this bums me and I have to think it does the same to our coaching staff.
Our staff finds the guy, recruits & signs him when he has few other offers becaiuse the other guys dropped off when he
stopped growing at 5-9. Then he gets a tremendous opportunity to play at the highest level - and logs more minutes
than all but 5 other guys in conference play, takes the THIRD most shots, scores the 3rd most points and was given the chance
by Coach Wardle to run the entire offense for 10-20 minutes per game. Then he bolts - no loyalty....unappreciative.
I will be interested to see who else pursues a 5-9 reserve guard and gives him any better opportunity than he had here.

FWIW- his brother played at three different schools, transferring twice

Was expecting news of who stays and who leaves. Not surprised but still hate it. Nothing to do at this point except hit the recruiting trail to find a good replacement. Preferably one who is much taller and can defend. Hope no one else leaves.

Burch just posted on his InstaGram his new NIL management group… I expect to see him in the portal soon. It’s the same thing Montana just did… you don’t hire an agent to stay.

Well now that Montana Wheeler and now possibly Burch leaving. Good opportunity for our two heralded recruits in Richardson and Zobrist to show why they were recruited in the first place. That is if they stay. If they do stay then hopefully the two can show the BU faithful what they can do

Not to worried about Montana leaving, had his moments, but for a guy that is about 5 ..5
He played a little out of control..good luck,he is chasing 💰💰💰

Burch just posted on his InstaGram ...
the Demarion Burch Instagram that I and Brian Wardle follow doesn't have anything - so which are you talking about?

I said weeks ago I expected three of our players to go in the portal.... plus we still have one or possibly two open scholarships
depending if Rugaard is on scholarship.
One already has entered the portal and another is about to do so...

He will have to live with his decision and in most cases BU guys who leave before they graduate have NOT prospered.
Jayson Kent is an exception, but didn't he leave after that bad season after Covid?
I really liked Wheels the times I spoke with him and has a ton of confidence. Usually I don't want guys who weren't committed to BU to do well, but I do hope Montana has a bright future, but he had a good deal here. If Quanny leaves tho, man. I think he will have regrets.
Let's hope his decision was influenced by Bully planning to stay.

Honestly thought we'd see news of Burch leaving by now, but nothing. I was wrong after the last 2 seasons, so...
I just don't see Burch having any more success for his last year anywhere else.
He's had a rough go basically all 3 seasons so for him maybe a change in atmosphere would be good. Selfishly I and most fans want him to stay and reap the rewards of sticking it out to the end at Bradley. I am not sold that he and Wardle don't get along. There's likely more to it or he'd have left long ago.
