Saw in the Journal-Star this morning that KW thinks there should be an investigation into how many fouls white officials on calling on minority players. Leave it to KW to agree with the report.

Here is a link to the column by Kirk Wessler today. I am not sure he is calling for more investigation, maybe just an open mind about what are the reasons for the findings of the study. He also points out that this report is far from being accurate or scientific. The NBA condemned the report, which you would expect.

The NBA already does do more to evaluate their officials than any other sport. And I watch a lot of NBA games, and their tendency to get the call right is amazingly high percentage for the incredible speed of the game.

I would like to know if anyone else who watches NBA games has ever thought there was a racial bias by the officials? I have never considered it until I read about this report. It certainly isn't apparent, and I have never heard of a player or the NBA Players Assn. complaining about it. And they wouldn't hesitate to do so if they thought it was happening.
I think it's not much of an issue and this bogus story will die quickly.

I don't think I've ever seen any racial bias in NBA officiating. Sometimes I feel like there's a sort of talent bias.

I agree DC that for the most part the NBA officials get calls correct. I have no clue as to how many white versus black officials there are in the league but there seems to be compared to the other major sports many more black officials then the other sports.

I also watch a lot of NBA and have never once thought man that call was racially biased, usually its the offical gave the benefit of the doubt to the "super" star.

I agree, even by the OG refs I don't think there is a bias, in general I think they call a fair game. Though I do think that in a questionable call the always give it to the player or team that is 'better.' I think a better study would be to see how many calls MVC officials call, that are NOT fouls.
