National Championship

After watching the game last night I started wondering if in todays world is it possible for a team like Bradley to win the national championship or if a sweet 16 run every 50 years is the best you can expect? Could Bradley of made a run at the title next year if POB had stayed around for his Sr. year and continued to develop? Its not often that a school like Bradley gets a big talented kid like POB and I think last night showed you have to have one to win the big game. I would like to think its possible but in todays world with mid majors getting high seeds that make the run much harder than what a BCS team would have to make, I dont know. We will be a talented team over the next couple of years and if we get a big JC kid or two we could be set for a run but the question is can a school like Bradley go all the way?

I have wondered the same thing. I don't see a midmajor ever winning the NCAA championship, though I believe we could see one make the final 4 once a decade or so.

I don't know anywhere else to put this post, but on the Kansas site, there is no story about the National Championship or the Final Four, just a story about .....Kansas.

And it is so self absorbing, which I guess all Kansas fans are anyway, that I thought I'd give you some excerpts for a laugh.

First...the title is
"Let the Healing Begin"

Then the story goes on to moan and wail and talk about all the crying and tears shed by the Kansas players and fans because they fell short of their expectations.
Never one reference to being beaten by a better team...just moans about how the balls didn't bounce their way.
Of course there's the obligatory refetrence to the Bucknell and Bradley losses, but the story drags on and on whining about how unfair life is because this Kansas team really is better than all those guys down in Atlanta this week.


Here are a few snippets for your enjoyment:

"Asked to compare UCLA???‚¬?„?s defense with Southern Illinois (KU beat SIU, 61-58, in the Sweet 16), Rush gave the nod to the Salukis.

???‚¬?“I don???‚¬?„?t think they???‚¬?„?re as quick as SIU,???‚¬?? Rush said."

"No, it wasn???‚¬?„?t a dream. There would be no more practices. No more games. And for sophomore guard Brandon Rush, this might have been the last game..."

"Mario Chalmers..... "Not many teams can say they made it to the Elite Eight."

Kansas may have a different look next year.
Brandon Rush will probably be gone as he is a sure first round draft pick.
His buddy Julian Wright may also be in the NBA next year,
and Sherron Collins is rumored to be interested in transferring to a school closer to home (Chicago) so he can be closer to his family and child (soon to be 2 children).

From a logical standpoint, there is always a possibility. But when you consider BU's tourney exits in the last 2 years, the big man and good but small guards alone is probably not enough (without great amounts of luck or insane deep shooting) you also need a Florida Brewer type (6-9, long wingspan, great baller..)

I don't think Dollar Bill is going to let Sherron transfer. I don't think their 'arrangement' will allow that. If the kid thing played into SC's decision making at all, he would have stayed true to his verbal to U of I 2 years ago.
