Arch Madness games

Both teams won at the others place during the regular season. Both teams have played well in St Louis but UIC has swag about them. It’s been ten years since UNI had been to the big dance while it’s been since 2002 for the Flames. Probably the smallest crowd for a championship game in St Louis for some time. Just hope for a good competitive game.
It's sad, every year it seems the crowd gets smaller.

Someone told me that in the 50 years of the MVC tourney being held, Bradley has only won it five times and three of those were in the 1980s. That doesn’t sound right or very good.
We won in 1980, 1988, 2019 and 2020. That’s not very many for as many good teams that we have had over the years.

19-28 overall, 7-14 from 3. The Panthers are putting on a show in the MVC championship game leading UIC 48-41 at the half. UIC is not shooting too bad either as they are 15-30 overall, 4-7 from 3. UNI is moving the ball so well on offense as they have 15 assists and just 3 turnovers

Didn't the championship used to be an afternoon game? I was thinking it used to be at 2 after they moved it from Monday night to Sunday.

UIC’s fan base is pretty pathetic. I wasn’t expecting much, but it’s just sad to see the arena this year when compared to the last few years on Championship Sunday. While I don’t miss their fans, Loyola had a great showing in STL year after year.

The conference keeps watering itself down with unengaged fanbases

It used to be Friday through Monday until I think CBS got the contract and changed it. Until this year the championship game was a 1:00 start and always seemed to get pre-empted by the 11:00 running long so I’m glad for the change for that and to get back home by 4:00 ish

The title game used to be Monday night at 8:35. You would have big crowds on Sunday, 14-15,000 and about half that on Monday.

11:26 to go and UNI is up 62-54. UIC had cut it to 56-54 but two straight 3’s from the Panthers quickly expanded that lead

I may be in the minority and maybe they wouldn’t be interested…but I would welcome Wichita State back if they had interest and there was desire by the MVC to add another team. My dislike for them was mainly tied to their head coach at the time. I don’t think the AAC has been what they thought it would be. They are ranked lower than the MVC. WSU doesn’t have a football program and seem to fit with the MVC very well. Engaged fan base and healthy NIL budget.

I think it would be good for the conference in getting back to a 2-bid league.

7:56 to go and UNI leads 69-58. They are still shooting lights out as they are 27-42 overall, 11-21 from 3.

UNI, in a masterclass of offense, leads UIC 74-65 with 3:43 left. UNI is shooting 29-46 overall, 12-22 from 3 and have 25 assists. UIC un big trouble

I just hope if UNI goes to the NCAA Tourney they don't have a performance like their last game there...

Does anyone recall, 2016, they played Texas A&M and had the game in the bag....
They had a TWELVE POINT LEAD with 44 seconds left and a TEN POINT LEAD with under 30 seconds left in the game!

...and they lost... it was THE worst late-game meltdown in NCAA history

Did anyone else notice how similar this game between UNI and UIC was, compared to UNI-Bradley last night?
UNI shot lights out in the first half and built a big, double-digit lead. Then UIC slowly chipped away, held UNI to a lower FG% in the 2nd half and trimmed the lead down to 3 points. But UNi then kept scoring on nearly every possession in the latter part of the 2nd half, opened the lead back to 9-10 points and closed it out for the win.

I just wonder, after watching how well Trey Campbell, Will Hornseth, and all the UNI guys played in the tournament, how were they not so good in the regular season? They ended up tied for 6th place, and got the #6 seed only by a tiebreaker with Valpo (who they split with) because their NET was slightly better.

I am happy for Coach Jacobson, since there have been a growing number of UNI fans who have been critical of him, and some even calling for a coaching change.

Yes I do!!! I watch highlights of that about 1x oer year. That was truly UNREAL!
And that followed the half court buzzerbeater in 1st game of the tourney vs Texas, which was a phenomenal game!
