I believe this to be current -- but in this morning's PJ star they quote Dr. Cross as saying there have been 32 coaching openings and only SIX have been filled.

ONLY four positions have been open as long as the Bradley position and yet remain unfilled...a..
.....and only THREE have "coaching searches" that have been going longer than Bradley's

BTW -- a familiar name, Lou Dawkins, the legendary head coach of Saginaw (MI) High School -- who was head coach of BU recruit Daniel West & Michigan State's Draymond Green has been hired as assistant under mark Montgomery at NIU

Dayton's Brian Gregory to Georgia Tech rumors starting...he is also getting calls from Missouri but the Georgia Tech thing is growing legs now that Tulsa' Doug Wojcek just turned the position down...

nothing official announced...

From the Wyoming website on 2/7

"- University of Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman announced on Monday that the contract of head men's basketball coach Heath Schroyer has been terminated effective immediately. Wyoming's current Associate Head Coach, Fred Langley, will serve as the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2010-11 season.

"I regret having to make this decision to terminate Heath's contract at this time, but I feel it is in the best interest of our program," said Burman. "We are grateful for the time Heath has been our coach. He inherited a difficult situation, and his actions here exemplify his character and support for his players and UW. While winning is key to a successful program, we cannot lose sight of the off-the-court progress this program has made under Heath's guidance. We were nationally ranked for APR (Academic Progress Rate) improvement and Coach Schroyer recruited numerous young men who have represented UW with class on and off the court - I for one applaud him for those efforts."

"Although I am obviously disappointed in the University's decision to terminate my contract, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as head coach at the University of Wyoming," said Schroyer. "I am grateful to President Buchanan, Tom Burman and the entire university community for their support of our basketball program. I also want to thank the great student-athletes that I have had the privilege of coaching here at Wyoming. I love our team, and I believe they have a bright future on and off the court."

Schroyer's current contract would have expired at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season. Under the terms of that contract, UW will pay him $160,000 per year for the remaining three years, said Burman. No state funds will be used to payoff the balance of Schroyer's contract.

Schroyer was hired as Wyoming's head basketball coach on March 23, 2007. His record over the past four seasons at Wyoming stands at 49-68 (.419). His record in the Mountain West Conference is 16-41 (.281). The Cowboys are 8-15 overall this season and 1-8 in MWC play. The highlight of Schroyer's four-year tenure at Wyoming was a 19-14 season in 2008-09. That season also marked Schroyer's best conference record at 7-9, and the Cowboys earned a bid to the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) tournament where they lost at home to Northeastern, 62-64.

A national search for a head coach would begin immediately, Burman said.

So the Wyoming AD was not truthful that the search would begin immediately? Even your own link says the search began then?

again -- I am going by sources that said the search would not begin until after Selection Sunday..

It is being reported that Georgia Tech has offered their job to Dayton's Brian Gregory-

The Dayton newspaper, which was beaten to the story, reports that Dayton denies it-

It is interesting that this article quotes the Georgia teach AD, and he does not deny it.

I guess we'll see how connected this blogger is.

And it's reported that Tennessee is interested in Shaka Smart (VCU) and Donnie Jones (Central Florida) after being turned down by Xavier's Chris Mack.

Some news on the coaching changes-
Brian Gregory takes the Georgia Tech job.

Dayton associate head coach Billy Schmidt may be a leader for the Dayton job.

Associate Head Coach Rob Senderoff is named the Interim Head Coach at Kent State. this move freezes him at KSU for now while they determine what they will do for a head coach.

Eastern Washington has hired Jim Hayford as their new head coach.

Florida Gulf Coast has supposedly narrowed their search to 3 or 4 candidates-Miami associate head coach Jorge Fernandez, Florida State assistant Andy Enfield, and Alabama associate head coach Dan Hipsher are thought to be the final three. But Todd Lickliter may still be a possibility.

Purdue's Matt Painter is supposedly visiting Missouri.

And some names being mentioned to replace Cuonzo Martin at Missouri State- three MSU assistants interested- Jon Harris, Kent Williams, and Steve Woodberry. Also Southern Indiana head coach Rodney Watson, and former Oklahoma head coach Jeff Capel interested.

Now being reported by several sources that Matt Painter will accept the Missouri job at 7 years/$14 million bucks.

Some think Purdue will make a strong push for Brad Stevens of Butler.

I guess money talks. You would have to believe the Purdue job being in the Big 10 is more desirable. Mizzou was left out of the expansion.
