Scott Sutton turns Bradley down

Taken right from the article you linked...

Reached by cell phone Thursday, Sutton said his policy was "not to comment on other jobs."

So if SS didn't comment on the situation, how did the $725K figure get out there? Must be some bloggers network or something...

Maybe a certain confidential search firm is doing some work for yet another coach that decided against taking the Bradley job?

I call major BS...

Who's to say they aren't throwing a number out for this guy because they know he's in the running for the Mizzou job and this pulls interest.

I don't believe the guy was offered anything here and I'm really starting to question whether some of these interviews took place or not...

See, the thing is, short of having tv coverage or photos taken, no one really knows for sure truth or fiction at this point.

My question on this would be, is this $750k a base salary, or the possible earnings with incentives?

IF, we are throwing this type of money around, WHY did we not go after Montgomery? Or perhaps I already know the answer to the second part of my question?;-)

publicly they all say they cannot or will not comment....
but confidentially many do comment then their words may leak or be betrayed
...anyway -- why is this so hard to believe if we know almost precisely the same dollar amount was offered to other candidate(s)?

Other than Dr. Cross of course.

It must be nice to be able to pick and choose what reports and or rumors we believe.

This report fits with other local reports I have heard. It is definitely true.
Sutton is one of many that have turned Bradley down, despite huge increases in salary.

Again..are we talking base salary, or salary plus incentives:?:

you can question anyone's reliability....in fact I do it all the time...and get ripped like heck when I question even stuff that gets reported by then later retracted by our local media!!!

...but the guy is "a 16 year veteran Los Angeles sports reporter and broadcaster"
he is cited as reference by Foxsports, CNN, and NBC news, CBS Sports, Time, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, ESPN, Jim Rome, and many other sites....

I should clarify that I don't think this reporter is fabricating this story nor question his qualifications, but I tend to not believe a story when it comes from only one source. He obviously believes his source enough to report this information, but other outlets either do not find the information reliable or do not have access to it.

Very true, although in this case I am willing to bet that Sutton was looking for a BCS job for awhile anyway. I'm guessing this had less to do with being a bad fit with the Bradley administration than the with the other coaches who have turned down Bradley.
