Darian Norris....SD vs St Mary

DN's team is horrible Big Mike. If they keep it under 20 I'd be surprised. Of course, I wish DN nothing but the best. He's a class act.

I haven't seen him play...thought it might be fun to watch(not caring who wins) a game and see how DN's doing!

I've watched a few of his games. He's a nice little guard who could have helped us this year. He's not really an MVC-caliber PG but he would be a nice back up for us, especially this year.

I thought he could have been an Anthony James-type guard (the guy that lit us up for 25 last night). What's ironic is that we recruited both, and offered Norris.

Norris looks slow?

Like would rather have DSE all day slow..... their offense looks really boring and slow too.

i'll post final eval after game only watched 5 minutes.

There is 11:18 left in the game and they are just now having the under sixteen min timeout......I have never seen play go that long before without a whistle.

Pretty good game by Darian. San Diego upset St. Mary's, the top team in the West Coast Conference, 74-66.
Darian Norris had 15 points, 2 assists, 3 steals. He has started all 27 games for them this year and played 33 min per game. He plays some point guard, and some off-guard, and is averaging 10.5 ppg.
USD is the last place team in the WCC, and this was just their 2nd conference win (6-21, 2-10).

Clearly we bet wrong on this one...

Not criticizing anyone, I liked Eddren, but two PG's same class..might not have been that bright

All teams do this srw. McCain was clearly the better of the two at PG. Unfortunately, he screwed up, and Norris realized he just wasn't good enough to get any PT.

We didn't bet. Norris wanted out. He wasn't going to get the PT he wanted.

Yes we did bet. He wasn't going to get the PT he wanted because we decided Eddren McCain was the future and not Darian. Obviously we got that one wrong.

He wanted out because he was told as much. You win some you lose some. Bradley lost this one.

My point exactly.
Im not really even criticizing the bet..

But our PG this year, even with sammy hurt, should have been a junior....

I don't think so. Darian is OK player on a terrible terrible team. He would not be starting on BU right now, and his PT may be minimal. I never liked Eddren's game, (as is well documented on this site), but being honest with Darian about him not starting in the future was not a mistake.

My comparison was Darian v. Eddren--that's basically what the decision came down to.

Anyway, I'm not sure if his PT would be "minimal". He is the leading scorer for a Division I team--to say he wouldn't play much at Bradley (a terrible team in its own right) seems like a stretch. No, USD isn't great, but Bradley isn't either.

Meanwhile Eddren McCain is playing at the NAIA level. Darian Norris would bring more to this team than Walt Lemon Jr at this point. All that said, not having Darian Norris doesn't matter much. It was just a time where the staff picked one guy over the other and it backfired. Not a big deal.
