Illinois State and Southern Illinois will be the MVC teams that do not participate in the 2011 Challenge Series. However, future MWC member Fresno State will host Illinois State in a non-conference contest on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011. Fresno State becomes a member of the Mountain West in 2012-13.

Unless things drastically turn around Bradley will definitely be left out of the 2012 MVC/MWC challenge. The Braves are going to finish last in the Valley and I think that is the first thing they look to when considering who to leave out.

Not exactly sure why ISU is being left out of next year's, though maybe it was determined the game with Fresno St. could kind of be considered as part of the challenge. Evansville would have been left out but they already missed the first one, so SIU is out because they finished next to last in 2010.

By playing Rutgers and one of UI and Richmond next year, ISU has already filled their personal quota of tough games so they didn't need the MWC as much as the others ;)

I know most of you don't care too much, but I am SUPER PUMPED. I'm getting my doctorate at Wyoming, but I'm preparing to get my ass kicked by Cowboys in roughly a year.

Thought of you when I saw the announcement. BU will have at least one fan at the game!

Shameless Promotion Alert!

The Chief Executive of the "2010-2012 BF.com MVC Regular Season Game Pick Em Contest" (me) has decided that I WILL INCLUDE the MVC Bracket Buster Games in the separate 2H MVC Regular Season Game Pick Em Contest.

More information to come!

The MWC will have 11 members in 2012. Every Valley team will be in it.

Edit: Hawaii will be football-only, so there would only be 10 basketball members. Still enough for everyone to participate.

Despite BYU and Utah leaving the MWC, they conference still will have a lot going for it next year with SDSt, UNLV and New Mexico staying. This will hurt them a LOT more in football than in basketball, but understandable for the teams involved.

That's good, I thought about that recently, and it would be kind of embarrassing to be left out for finishing last.
