Huh? Really? Explain where a quick driving guard does not fit into a JL system.
Huh? Really? Too often the guards settle for mid-range jumpers or 3s. Maybe that's more a function of the players than JL.
I want JL to just let WL play.

TAMUK was a bad team. With TB out, JL will need to adjust the lineup. I hope that means more time for AT and JP assuming that WE will already being playing 24-25 minutes a game. If we start going with an even more-undersized lineup ... well, I don't want to even imagine that. I think this team has the players to be good this year. I have hard figuring out how AT only gets 3 minutes in last night's game.
My guess is that TAMK was small and WE & JP matched up better. I will say that AT didn't look bad in his time out there. I thnk you will see more of him in the next game or two. I think we can expect AT to get SS minutes this year & there were some games over the last 2 years that SS never left the bench and others he played a ton.
If you listened to the post game show last night it sounds both JL & WL made it sound like there is a green light for WL to penetrate at will and that they plan to add the mid-range game later. A little reading between the lines but that's what I got out of it.
BTW, anyone missing MO or JW(less because he didn't want to come here) right now? Ugh.
I would say our first goal is to stop our opponent. We had a much better chance last night with 4 guards than putting WE at the 4.
heres my take:
Dodie- looked real good and back to his old self.... i think we can get 12ppg and always good defense from him
DSE- looked improved from last year, very active on the offensive and defensive end
WL- player of the game, he can drive any time he wants, he could be a stud if he ever developed a jumpshot. I think hes going to be a chris roberts type of player.
AW- non factor, off night.... need him to step up bigtime if we want to have any hope this year
SM- looked a bit rusty but expected, just needs some minutes to get back in game shape, if he woulda been in the same shape as the others we might have won this game by 20.
Egolf- showed flashes (first shot of the game), 12 shots might be a bit much but maybe he feels like he has to without TB. Still needs to go up stronger around the hoop
JP- liked what i saw and heard from red/white and quincy but looked like he wasnt ready for d1 last night. those two travels were probably to two worst travels ive ever seen. and the jump hook airball from a foot away with barely anyone on him was just bad
woulda like to see more minutes from AT
14pts 11 rebounds combined from WE-JP... I think if we can get that production every night from our bigs we should be ok. However to only outrebound this team by 1 is disappointing.
I think unless we get someone to step up big time a top 3 finish is now out of the question and playing at 2:30 will be unfortunaely be considered a success...
You're right about that! This team's first goal should be to stop our opponent. The offense will come along with that and all we have to do is outscore the other team!
Was talking to DaCoach at the game last night and he brought up a great point......how nice it would have been to have SH come in this season instead of next season. I realize that would be the AD scholarship, but SH would have been a nice player to have available right now!
I am 180 degress opposite on this. This is a year for JL to break his addiction to playing an undersized line up and show us that he can coach a team that doesn't rely on guards and 3 point shooting. TB going out for the year will put a premium on JL's coaching. This is the year he either shows he can coach or he is out of here IMO.
Dodie played an exceptional game. He has a knack for knowing when the team needs a lift and takes it upon himself to give us that lift. Heck, does anybody remember the game last year when he broke his arm? If I recall, BU came out as flat as can be against a poor opponent, and Dodie put the team on his back and had like 16 points in a fairly short period of time when the injury occurred.
Watch his body language on the court. He is passionate, emotional, and definitely work to his advantage since he will probably play 15-25 mpg at the 4.
I'm not sure how having SH available this season would be the opposite of what you stated.![]()
Sorry, maybe I phrased it wrong. I would not want to give up AD for SH. Haven't seen either of them play, but AD is an important part of the future. With regard to this year, JL has the horses between AT, JP, MK, and WE to cover the 4 spot while still manning the 5 spot. IMO, putting a 6'7" SH at the 4 would lead to another season of getting killed on the boards and having a team unable to compete in post-season if we get there. This is a year for JL to show us his coaching stripes. In the analysis you did, not once did JL have WE, JP, or AT on the floor at the same time. I find that baffling after the pre-season comments JL made about playing bigger. I don't want to lose hope early, but I saw the old JL coaching last night and that did not encourage me.
..... Anyone thinking this will lead to some kind of success, well, your just smoking "cheap weed"![]()
