Illini Exhibition vs. Lewis on Big Ten Network

according to the official Illini site, www.fightingillini.com,
the Illinois exhibition game tonight is on her Big Ten Network..
which is channel 64 on Comcast in most regions, and may be a different channel on other systems...

I see that it is only on BigTennetwork.com...via streaming..

Illinois is up 9-4 about 4 minutes into the game..
Billy Coles started and each of the other four starters, DJ, DMac, Davis, & Tisdale have each scored a bucket

Illini seem to be unable to stop Lewis from scoring...
frequent subs and Bruce Weber playing 11 different players about the same number of mninutes are the things hampering the flow for Illinois.
Jereme Richmond good at creating shots - they need to feed him the ball..
McCamey should pass not shoot....and Illini could use a 3-pt shooter

Illini up 60-49 .. lots of freshman minutes being played..

..edit -- quickly back to 60-53

edit again -- 60-55...Illini looking shaky...fans kinda quiet..

Illini with a big 39-28 rebounding advantage and it's needed as Illinois missing shots & FT..

a couple other exhibition scores...
BYU 31 - Laval 15 in 1st half
Rhode Island 89 - Concordia (Canada) 50 Final

Lewis getting layups and 3 pt play -- now down by only 2 65-63 about 2 min to go..
Illinois could lose this game!!

Under 2 min -- it's a one possession game

3-pointer by Lewis rims out that would have tied the game -- Illinois up 66-63
Illini are 1-10 from 3-pt range and missing a lot of FT's 14-24

clearly they were rusty -- but you could see the talent there..
but Weber's dilemma is this --do I let me experienced guys work out the kinks and stay on the floor--
or do I let the freshmen play but they're going to be even more unpredictable

UIC and new head coach Howard Moore (ex-BU assistant)...
had an intrasquad scrimmage last night -- and the "Red Team" that had most of their projected starters - led by Robo Kreps & Zavion Neeley (their two top scorers last year)
got absolutely hammered and embarrassed by their "White Team" made up entirely of either players who didn't play last year or deep subs who were well under 5 ppg last year.

Final score was 49-29 in a 30 minute game...
Robo Kreps did get some consolation - as the 6-1 senior guard from Maroa-Forsyth won the slam dunk contest!!

at IU they had their intrasquad scrimmage, and walk-on Daniel Moore did his best Lebron James imitation and dominated with 18 points, 5 assists, 4 steals..in a 30 min scrimmage
gotta wonder how good is IU gonna be when a 5-10 walk-on who's never been more than a deep sub, and who scored a grand total of 36 points last season, and is a career 1 ppg scorer and 33% shooter leads them in such a dominant fashion??

Matt Roth had 10 pts on 2-5 from 3-pt range, 1 reb, no asst..
Some of the other expected starters struggled also -- Maurice Creek had 4 pts, Tom Pritchard had just 2 points, and Verdell Jones sat it out with ankle problems, Jeremiah Rivers out with a concussion..

Creighton plays a closed scrimmage at Colorado tonight

I wish i would have seen this yesterday. One of my good childhood friends is a sophomore on the team at Lewis. It was awesome getting to see him play last year when we played lewis for our exhibition game.

From looking at his stats it doesnt look like my buddy had a great game, but it still would have been cool to see him on TV

The red team got killed, yes, but the blue team also had two starters from last year on it (Birton and Robbins), plus transfer Paul Carter, the 6th man at Minnesota last year. Carter is a huge pickup for UIC.

I think Coach Les can use the Illini game with his team. The Illini are being talked up as much improved, new attitude, yadda yadda yadda, and then they go out in the exhibition and play basically the same way they did last year. Talk means nothing.

Birton & Robbins combined played fewer minutes than Kreps alone and they were part time starters.

it woule be like having Maniscalco & Taylor Brown on one team and Jake Eastman & AT on the other and saying they're balanced
