Red/White Scrimmage

I've seen several posters saying, "I'll know more after the Red/White scrimmage." I'm just curious what others will be looking for walking into the scrimmage. More or less, if BU is going to be good this season, I expect to see (fill in the blank) in the red/white scrimmage.

Knowing that defense is always at a premium (because everyone knows everyone elses signature moves) I hope to see growth from DSE, AT & MK. Exactly what JP & WL bring to the table. I hope to learn where we are year two after the injuries for WE & AW. Finally, I PRAY I see solid boxouts and guy flying to the boards after a shot. Personally, I think I'll know more after the Quincy game, but I still can't wait to see the red/white. From the Quincy game I hope to see a line-up of JP/AT at the 5, with WE & TB filling the 4 & 3 spots, even if it's only for a 2-3 minute stretch.

I'll be interested to know others thoughts and anticipations.

I'm actually just looking forward to a good time. The last time I was at a red/white TCS scored like 190 points, and they were pretty much the last ones he managed to score for the rest of the season. Can't wait, but going to try to avoid paying too much attention to what I might learn from it.

.. The last time I was at a red/white TCS scored like 190 points..

nope -- that was at the first exhibition game in 2007, vs. St. Ambrose that drew 4,150
....DRuff's 14 points was top scorer in the Red-White that year..
BTW -- the Red-White game drew 3,782 that year who saw Coach Les do his "Soulja Boy" routine..

Here was the box score of the Red-White in 2007 -- TCS had only 4 pts in this scrimmage..
..also this 2007 Red-White was BU fans' only chance to view Ryan Thornton & Cameron Sweatman as Braves...

I look for improvements from A.T; W.E; see what J.P. and W.L. will bring to the table and see if we are better organized on defense and rebounding.
I believe coaching staff changes can make huge differences in how much better a team plays as far as discipline and organization goes, Illinois football has proven that better asst"s can change a lot of things in a hurry.
I also hope we play a full 40 minute scrimmage as we have the no. of players to handle it plus I wish we would put a 1st team against the 2nd team concept.

I dont know if there's too much you can take away from the R/W scrimmage... If the team looks great offensively, does that mean they will be weak defensively?

Personally, I'd like to see all players shoot 80% or better from the FT line.

Would like to find out how SM and his ankle is and if TB has new moves in the post. Definitely want to hear about tough, in-your-face Defense from the fans that get a chance to see the game.

I'm looking forward to seeing the three freshmen. I think I know what to expect from the other guys. Hopefully, one or two will surprise me.

As other have said, it's tough to judge a scrimmage like this. I'm hopeful BU will be better at defensive rebounding this year, but I doubt anyone will be able to tell in this setting.

Ah yeah, you're right. I remember now. Either way, my point about exhibitions stand. Fun to go to, don't tell you as much as you might hope.

I cannot go Sunday, but I would like a report on how JP compares to WE on the floor, how is JE's confidence, can MK guard anybody, and is Lemon good enough to steal minutes from our other back-court guys.

I don't mind the MVC's ranking, but the Horizon league is entirely too high IMO. Past Butler I don't see a team that would be in the top half of the MVC...

Drake had their Blue-White game last night...a newcomer/transfer Jordan Clarke
was the leading scorer on the winning side...click on my signature to read more......

I want to see good crowd participation. This was clearly the only missing element from a deep NCAA run last year.

I hope the red white scrimage goes well. I hope students show up, and that no one get hurt. I hope to see a very athletic team and one who plays as a team.

Most of all i wanna see JP, AT, AD and WE battling it out down low so that i can feel confident that we have at least 2 but hopefully 3 guys who can play down low consistently this year.

Unfortunatly i wont be able to attend the game so i'm relying on this board and my friends that are going to fill me in on how good we look.

I hope you all see the AT we saw in his first Red-White scrimmage as a Brave.

Knock some people around and get to the rim, Sticks! 8)

You'll need a new nickname if you do, how about "The Big Stick" :?:

Or perhaps, "The Praying Mantis" :?:

For us out of town fans I am hoping for some great updates about how the guys look from the posters that will be there............

AT looked GREAT! Skill wise he needs to work on his hands, but boy has he gotten bigger. Jordan Prosser is going to be a beast. If you ask me, shoe-in for All-Newcomer team. Walt Lemon Jr. has a decent shot, and has the explosiveness of Jermaine Brown, but with a better skill set. TB, WE, and SM did not play, but they will not be a concern I do not believe. Got to see the walk-ons ALOT! They are what they are but the little guard #10 has a big heart. Jake Eastman will be a major contributor and DSE will be All-Valley. Biggest Surprises were how big Jordan Prosser is and how big AT is. I'm not sure you can call him "sticks" the guy is a beast. Kudos to Ronnie Wright! Andrew Warren is a great leader and will be his usual self! 15-17 ppg I believe. One memorable moment was AT's block of Jordan Prosser. WOW! He shucked it bad! That's my observation. It will be a great year! ALOT OF TALENT ON THIS TEAM!
