UNI had their media day yesterday-

It appears they are trying to market Lucas O'Rear as a misunderstood bad boy-

I'd like to see the Red Sea student group wave a blow-up of that picture at O'Rear when UNI plays at Carver Arena.:-P

Being I've been gone for all the MVC games the last few years I don't know anything about this kid. Looks like an innocent picture to me of a young man holding a basketball.

You've gone to all the MVC games and don't know Lucas O'Rear? The solid big man from UNI??? Drafted in Baseball??? Huh???

I think he meant he's unfortunately missed MVC games.

O'Rear certainly has the rep of a relative badboy (inside bruiser, and suspected or convicted of theft) who also looks the part on the court. That's why I think it's funny how not rough and tumble this one came out.

He's won the sixth man award the past two years. He accepted and thrived coming off the bench. He rebounds, sets picks and gets garbage baskets.

He stole a cell phone and iPod a couple of years ago.

I have never met LOR but my wife & I sat right behind his brother and his brother's girlfriend along w/ some of his friends and relatives at the UNI-BU game in StL last year and will say they were very friendly, not rude or inconsiderate, didn't hear cussing like so many young people. When the game was over they shook out hands and thanked us for visiting w/ them. We wished them the best of luck and went our seperate ways but my wife was very impressed-sometimes we need to get to know people-they may be very nice.

I think you're making much ado about nothing... No one here is criticizing Lucas, only this picture.

Bet you wouldn't say that about "Shrek's" mom. ;)

Ooops... Read that wrong. I still question how a die-hard doesn't know Lucas O'Rear, but the statement makes tons more sense.

I'm a die-hard Bradley fan, not a die-hard NIU fan, but I do appreciate the success they have had the past several seasons.

I agree and I also like the way he plays. The guy plays hard with a ton of heart. Can't hate that.
