Dogs, I was hoping they'd let you pick one of the ladies to shoot for ya! Haha!
My only defense was I wish I could of had a few warmup shots....even three pointers to get a feel. I haven't tried a half court shot in 20 years, any muscle memory has dried up.....I was so focused on NOT crossing the line I forgot to let er fly.
Oh well the players, fans and even coach Les were all great to me...Les did say, "Bob...I expected better from you (with a wink and smile).
My driver said...."your walking home."
Whats also funny is I didn't text to enter...he just picked me out of the crowd.

dogs -- you came closer than I would have....I was already thinking of a contingency had my name been called....
...prob. would have had my son toss it, but they had prestated rules..

professional or semi-professional basketball at anytime or played or coached
basketball at the high school, junior college, college or Olympic level within
the last five (5) years will be ineligible to attempt the Hoopla Half-Court Shot."

I wasn't there to witness dogs but this doesn't have the same repercussions as in golf when the drive doesn't make it to the ladies tee does it?

Pride has been temporarily taken away and just got a call from the ISC.....my table "rights' have been suspended for one year.
When he was going over the rules I told em....I WAS on the 72 olympic team but we refused our medals. He looked at me with a puzzled look, sheepishly laughed, and then moved on.
WHat was kinda cool is you often hear fans asking players..."did the crowd noise bother you"...while it was a smallish crowd I heard NOTHING during the shot but after I let it go I heard the collective groan when it was painfully obvious it was woefully short.
And again....I loved the players (mens and womens) genuine excitement for not only me but ALL the events last nite. EVERY single player got off the bench to high five me when it really had nothing in it for them....AW especially said...wait wait....and gave me some good luck hand shake.
I can still see DSE's big smile and the rest of the guys words of encouragement.
You gotta love it when its not all me..me....which this generation always gets accused of.
Now about that horrible shot....

Just gotta a call from Hilton Head...yeah its reached all the way down there allready. Our golfing/travelling buddy is down there at the airport waiting to pickup the San Fran Homeless mans photo taker
He shared a great story...many years agao he was in the BU dash-for-cash when you ran the court in your stocking feet and retrieved one dollar bills with a shovel. You had to bring them the length of the court without a second hand to hold them in the shovel.
When they counted the money after the alloted time some 70 y/o women ousted him by three dollars.
He says he STILL gets cr@p to this date about it.....he told me, now everytime there is a half court shot contest you'll freeze up start sweating and people will give you grief...
So I got THAT going for me.
