Darius Smith?? Chris Colvin??

BU freak

Any news on any of these possible transfers? I know it has been reported that Colvin visited, but has Smith? Anyone know anything??

I am an old man, what does moneeey imply?

To clear things up, I was mocking some sports radio guy that always says, "money" when something good happens. Might have been Jim Rome, not 100% sure. But, no- thankfully "moneeey" is not a part of my everyday vocabulary.

Why would it be good/money if either one of them ended up at Bradley? Just curious thats all. Since Jim Les the player D1 transfers haven't exactly excelled at Bradley (Curtis Stuckey is an exception).

Sommerville did, well, Ok. I guess?

Good point. Although I guess he technically wasn't a D1 transfer. He was a JUCO recruit. It would be splitting hairs.

I've always found transfers to be way overrated not only at Bradley but in the MVC as a whole. (generally speaking of course).

Because we will be losing a lot of talent in the backcourt after this year...

Because getting a transfer like this is probably the only way that you will ever see a 4-star/top 100 type of recruit end up at BU...even if their flaws may have gotten exposed a bit at a higher-level BCS program...

If someone is talented and the staff feels like they can help the team, I don't care how they end up here...

Again. Came to Bradley from a JUCO. See Marcellus Sommerville.

I think it's a fair point that we haven't had good luck with D1 transfers, however it's just one aspect of recruiting, and honestly probably the least common as well as the lowest impact form of a recruit/transfer in the recruiting market. Obviously, just because a team has a few D1 transfers that don't turn out it doesn't make them a poor recruiting school, just a bad "transfer" one I guess..
Anyway, I think that the caliber of players we've gone after and in some cases brought in as D1 transfers is undeniably good, it's the character that was the problem 9 times out of 10. If our staff can learn from their previous mistakes, I see no reason why picking up Colvin/Smith would not be "money."

My thoughts exactly! Our top three guards will be gone after this season and both of these guys should be able to step right in.

See Daniel West, Ray Brown, John Wilkins, MO, Dwight Buycks, et al. We have problems with High School commits too. Your using an EXTREMELY small sample size to make an argument, and it is flawed. When you take chances, sometimes you're going to get burned, but sometimes they pay off. (i.e. taking a risk on an unknown player with good basketball pedigree - TB)

D-1 transfers have to be the right chemistry...
I have seen cases where they excelled and were tremendous gets like Jim Les was...

I have also seen where the incoming guy takes away perceived playing time, and creates a chemistry nightmare (see NIU, SIU, Alex Legion, and a few other places as well).....

So I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I would trust our head coach to get it right....

BU Braves 55---You are not quite correct in your condemnation of transfers. We have had some teriffic transfers over the years. To name a few:
Marcellus Sommerville - Curtis Stucky - Dodie Dunson - Alex Majieka - Hassan Houston - Steve Kuberski - and don't forget Jim Les who came to BU from Cleveland State!!!

I agree. I am not condeming them 100%. But, remember, guys transfer from a school for a reason. Im not opposed to a school like Bradley taking chances. I see taking a BCS transfer as a bit of a risk. I'm just saying that more don't meet expectations than do. Not just at Bradley but everywhere.

Mike Williams came from Cincinnati! One of my all time favorite Braves for what that is worth.

I am still holding out hope that M.O. completes the needed course by the end of the month to get in at BU for the fall, probably why the last schollie has yet to be filled.
