Ditto! If we are better next year JL will not get the credit by some folks...in fact with the new NCAA expansion if we make a post season tourney..i can see it now....

I agree, Webster has a lot better credentials and connections in the mid-west.

Why compare Webster to Brooks? We should strive for something special. Webster at Illinois produced poor recruiting classes. What credentials and connections? Based on the Illini recruits the credentials and connections don't mean much.

Who is comparing Webster to Brooks? I think Webster is better then people realize including you.

Much like his mentor DV, JL tried to go national after the national success, and it didn't pan out the way he wanted it to. I think we're trying to get back to a more 'local' (meaning midwest) focus, which for DV resulted in the best team in the history of the program. I don't have those expectations for JL, but I think a revamped staff and a great 2010-11 season could result in the success we've all be wanting, some have been demanding, and that we SHOULD be expecting. We might be closer than some think!

Jack Bauer made the comparison when he said "... compared to Alvin Brooks ..."

That seemed pretty obvious.

I really like Webster. I have had personal interaction with him. My kid attended a basketball camp Webster worked. Great guy. Recruiting results while at Illinois speak for themselves. Your opinion is he's better, my opinion is he hasn't produced. No question that Illinois' recruiting made a gigantic leap forward when Howard replaced Webster.
 
I did make the comparison, and I don't think Brooks' resume at BU says much. I think it pales in comparison to the experience and winning that Webster has been around, and could potentially bring to the program. It really isn't disputable that we would be upgrading. But, nothing is official at this point, so no need to speculate any more. I thank Alvin for his contributions to our fine program, and wish him luck back home.

Fair enough. But even if Webster is an upgrade he still has not had very good results so we could do even better. That is my point. Don't settle for something just because it is better than what we had when we could do even better.

I am all for doing as good as we can. I don't care who he is, where he's from, what color he is, or anything. I want the best guy we can get. If it's TW, great. If it isn't, not a problem.
 
Let"s show a little class as A.Brooks is leaving so there is no need to compare him or say bad things about him, he worked hard and did the best job he could do for BU, hope he does well in Texas.

I have to agree w/ you.
I have been wondering why all the AB3 bashing on this board. Maybe some have more knowledge of the job done then I have, but how many really know this coach and have seen him in action at practices as well as how he does recruiting.
So many have opinions w/o really knowing IMO

I have....he didn't really do much at practices....he rebounded?

I guess he was all about the recruiting.

So anyway I was pretty negative about Tracy Webster. I have been doing some reading about him. I am coming around. I would think he would be a good hire for us. I kind of think he would only be here for a year if we got him because he is somewhat respected. I am surprised someone like Iowa, Iowa State, or some other school with a new staf doesn't go after him to get Chicago recruits. Maybe they are going after him. Does anyone know if this is going to be another two to three week process to hire a new assistant?
